Kings Palace for me. The Pipes seem to rate this one highly and they do have a good record in this race.
Beef stew and dumplings. The thickly cut carrots are back. 9/10. I see the Pipe’s have got 3 horses, right now, in the top dozen in the market. Wouldn’t be keen to commit to any of them until final running plans are announced. Personally, I’m very keen to discover what they are up to with the mare, Le Vaticane (also has an entry on the Friday of the meeting) – and let’s face it they are always up to something. What a lovely name for a mare by the way. Had just the one run for the old rogues, when a very fair 2nd over hurdles in March (the one of Mr Henderson’s who beat her franked the form next time up by winning a Grade 3 at the Grand National meeting), but was a most progressive chaser across the Channel in ’14. A mark of 134, makes La Vaticane look very interesting wherever she appears next.

2.00 LINGFIELD- JUST ANOTHER MUDDLE - 6/1 Brother to a consistent performer Mr Muddle but more talented Can't believe I didn't see he was running missed the 10's earlier but the stable think he is a stable star- his bumper form from 2 years ago is the best in the field but only ran once last year in the bumper at aintree which was out of his reach really but only concern but for him to run in it proves how highly they are fond of him. This more in his clasp and looks to be better hurdling
Really interested in GO WEST YOUNG MAN on chase debut at around 12s on the exchange. 2.40 Huntingdon.
MONEYJEAN for me brother to Clarcam who was a top novice last season, stable had a good winner yday in the same colours should go well
Cosmic! Rodney duly delivers. Looking forward to the Penguins next outing. Felt he might need a trip that day though rather than 2m.
5.10 Wolves. PUSH ME 20-1. I always look out for Jardine's horses as have been profitable recently. This is his and the jockeys only ride tonight. This jockey/trainer combo won a week ago today so hoping for something similar tonight. Saddle slipped on last race so best ignored. At 20-1 I feel this is worth an each way dabble.
Just with regards to the Paddy Power Gold Cup, I really think LITTLE JON is the e/w angle into this race. He was battling for the lead when he stumbled on landing at the last fence in the festival handicap won by Irish Cavalier last March. On that day he was giving the winner 1lb- in this race there is, I believe, an 18lb swing in the weights and Little Jon runs off just 10St 4lb. He made mistakes that day and has been a bit scratchy in the past, but if he could get round I think he should be bang in the shake up. I fear PRESENT VIEW the most.
Is that all your monastery cook knows how to make, "Beef Stew and Dumplings?" You seem to have this on the plate 5-times a week? Well, at least the carrots were thickly cut, at least that's something. Personally, I love this dish, but gee whiz, not too often! Talk to the Abbot about it.
I'll be there on Saturday and whilst the sight of the lovely Rebecca in the winners enclosure would be a particular personal highlight I fear Gifford's Generous Ransom may have a big say in this event. He meets Irish Cavalier on 15lb better terms than when they met at the festival earlier this year, has had a prep run over hurdles and will be probably better suited to the ground should there be anymore ease in it than the current good to soft. Generous Ransom at 20s and a reverse forecast with IC. Darna for the tricast.
