I agree with the fair play to them sentiment. The football gods were smiling on them today though. City are going to have to find a solution to their striker problem. Sterling isn't the answer.

They will sign Vardy and he will never score again. The Man City way.

Has their £8trillion academy produced anything yet? I heard parents only send their kids there for the private school. What happened to that young lad who scored for then not long ago?

The principle is the same, but I don't think it's quite on the same level.

City only had 13 shots, of which only three were on target and none really troubled Guzan. So Villa hardly rode their luck to the same degree as Chelsea, with Bayern having 30 odd shots, Cech having to save with pretty much every part of his body, Robben fluffing a penalty, and Cahill clearing off the line.

To borrow (and mangle) Chief's golf analogy, it's the difference between getting a hole in one with an aimed chip on a par three, or getting a hole in one by thumping it as hard as you can on a par four. Both require luck, but at least you were trying to do one, and had a decent chance of influencing the result.

I think the shots on target stat can be misleading at times. A lame shot straight at the keeper is a shot on target. A shot that has the keeper beaten but goes marginally the wrong side of the post is just a shot.

Shots on target is exactly that. If you hit the post, that's classer as off target but chances are, you were closer than most shots on a target. Like yesterday, Matas shot was a great chance, he should have scored. If he had hit it at the keeper we would have had 1 extra shot on target but it wouldn't have been as close to a goal. Mata beat the keeper but also beat the post.

I agree, but as I said above Guzan was barely stretched the whole game whilst Cech in 2012 was saving right left and centre (and defenders were blocking shots too). Yes, Sterling maybe should have done better from his header, but is him heading it at Guzan luck, or just poor finishing. It's not like Villa allowed that chance to fall to Kompany, Toure or anyone with any aerial prowess after all.

Similarly, a shot which has the keeper beaten but goes marginally the wrong side of the post (or hits the post) is a miss. That's poor finishing, imo, rather than any real luck.

Besides, you can't score if you can't hit the target.

Liverpool's title challenge took a little hit today. Luckily all the other contenders only managed a point this weekend :emoticon-0141-whew:

That's true Swarbs. But will Vardy be able to do a Suarez? I'm not so sure.

Nah, he seems far too nice to bite or racially abuse anyone.

I bet he has loads of black friends tho.

I would keep your money in your pocket tbh, if there was one player I would bet on getting done for racism... Its Jamie Vardy.

    The RS ! <laugh> <laugh>

The deluded have come down to earth with a bump. Palace dominated them and Kloppyflop had no answer. The RS are realising that all their worshipping, praying, rimming of the German does not suddenly produce miracles.

They are all crying bitter tears on their board, wondering that yet again it is a false dawn. Kloppyflop promising the title in 4 years plays well to the deluded ears but there is as much chance of that happening as UKIP loving the EU!

"82 minutes the goal....12 minutes to go? I saw many people leaving the stadium. I felt pretty alone."
