3.00 Sandown. JEANPASCAL 6-1. Win bet.
Its the smoking hot Coleman / Williams combo. The betting patterns caught my eye too. Been drifting out all morning to 11-1 on hills and then suddenly in to 6-1 from nowhere? Top weight but going to chance it.

Songsmith has been heavily backed in this race fusion 6s into 3s for Lucy wadham stick used to have a contact in her stable I think but the movement in price is enough to suggest he's fancied GL though mate ;)

Gone and backed Flemenstar receiving weight all round here. 2m, soft ground- hopefully he can at least go from the front this time and try and do what he does best, unlike what crook Martin was trying!

He was running an absolute ****ing stormer until clouting the 3rd last Toppy - typical of my ****ing luck at the moment, backed him e/w at 25s last night and he goes and tires into 3rd <doh>

It was a very promising run though i feel. If he comes on for that on nice good to soft ground he should be up to contesting some nice pots. The amount of rain falling here and the wind is making conditions tough.

Hidden Cyclone and Days Hotel there, two legends.

Never seen a horse devour 3 miles at Sandown like Coneygree today, will take something to beat him.

Had them all at it and jumped like a stag until that mistake. Gutted- if they could get his engine right he can still win some nice races.

Coneygrees jumping was brilliant again today, Sandown is a good test and he pinged around. Given soft ground, it will be immensely tough to beat him.

Vatour et al will need faster ground IMO in a Gold Cup, which of course is possible. Looking forward to seeing the season shake out!

Just watched a replay of the race, I would make the following observations:

    1. Never looked like making even the semblance of a mistake - jumped superbly and was also clever at 1 or 2.
    2. The open ditch at the end of the home straight - WOW what a leap
    3. When Nico asked him to quicken up at the beginning of the back straight 2nd time round the others were immediately at it
    4. Came up the hill like Dessie in his pomp

In summary - this lad is a beast and will go down as one of the all time greats.

I wouldn't go as far as that mate, but I think the horse doesn't get the credit he deserves sometimes. First novice for 40 years to win the Gold Cup yet some crab him, saying he only won because it was soft - forgetting he absolutely bolted up in the Feltham at Kempton they year before on good ground around a speed track. His jumping his superb, he is exhilarating, does it from the front and, sorry for all the Mullins fans, but it IS nice to see a small yard have such a great horse. I'm a sentimental old bugger but his whole story just gets my pulse racing so much more than fat cat banker Ricci and his expensive purchases - great horses though they are.

Read a funny little quip in one of the tabloids yesterday which said "a jump jockey has to throw his heart over the fence, then go catch it"

I love BOG - treble ended up paying over 5/2

Coneygree was special today but he's not beaten much, look forward to seeing the battles over the season

:cheesy: I did say he was one with a chance, best horse in England surely by a distance.
