Okay, very very happy that we finally get a win. Big up to the players, and grudgingly to the manager. However, we were here in february, so this changes nothing. KM should bugger off tonight, and one win does not a season make, so KF can share a train with her. Still, it's been a long time since we won, so I'm going to be happy tonight.
There was one man there, who gave a pre-game speech to inspire them to victory: Also, yipieeee we won!
At last, a balanced team, and a decent spine. Henderson, Bauer, Diarra, JBG and Reza. Diarra and JBG in the middle, someone knows what their doing, I suspect Euell, he seemed to be organising things while Carol chatted to the 4th official
Diana back in midfield. We've only been asking for that for how long? Amazing what happens when you play world cup finalists in their natural position.
Back from the game, thought it was incredible, we should protest every week. I know we have been asking for Diarra in midfield but whoever (Euell or Freaye) decided to do it was brilliant. Quick rating, Henderson: 6 did absolutely nothing all day, calm and secure when needed, could do nothing about the goal, feel he really likes playing for us or at least really appreciates the fans. Solly - 6 Simply for his tackle so he could get subbed, wasn't on the pitch long enough. Bauer - 8 Didn't see him put a foot wrong, calm on the ball, good in the air as usual, a real leader and has been my POTY since August, great player. Fox - 6 Got the assist and good attacking play but showed it even more how poor defensively he is due to almost every Wednesday attack down our left side. Sarr- 6 Would have been a 7 but for his air kick when they scored. Diarra - 9 Super performance and has surely made it clear he should be in midfield every game. Seemed to be everywhere and knew where his team mates were for the passes. Ba - 6 Best performance in a Charlton shirt for a while... still can't pass but seemed more involved, out the side as soon as Cousins is back. Jacko - 7 Our leader and Captain, run about seemed to be there when we needed, and a trademark bullet header. JBG - 8 Thought he controlled much of the tempo and our attacking player, ran for all 90 minutes and was brilliant on the ball. Nearly back to his best, great to see him behind the front 2 rather than a winger. Big Mak - 8 Love the big man, got his goal and was key in a lot of build up. I appreciate being 6ft 7 you are expected to win the headers but he wins EVERYTHING, not too bad with his feet today either. Reza - 7 got his goal, and ran around, nowhere near the poor uninterested player since before his loan spell, he keeps playing like that I'll be very happy. Subs Holmes-Dennis - 7 Great performance for the youngster in his unnatural RB position, needs a right foot if to play there, highlight of the day was his making a fool of their guy at the end in the corner. Moussa - 5 only noticed he was on when they took Ba off, apart from that didn't notice him. Lookman - 6 Bright little Cameo, pretty impressive better than KAG although I don't see them in training every day. Delighted with that performance, if it's Euell or Fraeye making the choices I am very happy either way with that. I hope they don't give him the full time job based on that 1 win, still a long way to go, and was happy with the protest this morning although a little more co-ordination ie chants and that wouldn't go a miss.[/B]
I know it sounds bizarre but Reza was superb, he got stuck in more than anyone else on the pitch, was creative and a joy to watch out wide. Him kicking the **** out of the Wednesday right back was a highlight. Jackson and Diarra were very good as the two wholding midfielders, they broke down everything and really put their bodies on the line. Makienok led the line well and was better on the floor than he has been this season. Holmes-Dennis was solid at right back on his wrong foot. Christ even Ba had his best game, his touch, passing and creativity looked really good. For me Lookman was one of the most impressive, I see what all those on here that go to youth games have been talking about. He was so confident it's unreal. His touch, turn and control look very good. He seems to be of the Gomez/Poyet mold, very confident and won't be fazed by the step up. He looks far ahead of Ahearne-Grant.
Also I wonder where the sofa went? Was it just taken away because of the rain or is it gone for good?
Reza I thought was quality. I liked him when he played for us previously, and still always thought he had a lot to offer after the World Cup. I think that him not playing, then loan spell away, had to do with Roland wanting to make an inflated quick buck off him post World Cup performances he had. Plays like that all the time, he'll be better than Watt.
Rezza had his best game for #cafc.not that that statement in itself means a lot but he was on it all game looked decent. Diarra in midfield was the key showed his class. Loved seeing a performance from our boys. Roland Out
Great stuff. A win is a win in spite of who is coaching/managing. Why would Katriene be laughing in full view, at what ? Which part is funny ?
protest was good, respectful, no agrression shown yet, which is a worry - cos we've won, the fans are likely to be a bit more calmer. the protests need to carry on . these were handed out pre game
and we actually played alright too. diarra and reza by far the best players. slight worry seeing solly going off, but what cracked me up about that is that after getting up from going down injured he started walking off from RB to be subbed. But, because he was taking some time (sore knee), the ref blew play on and sheff weds carried on. he turned around, saw play continuing, so chased down the ball and took out the player with it. when the foul was given he booted the ball in to the dugout and walked off, subbed, before the ref could get over to book him. it was the biggest "f*ck you, you pr1ck" to the ref i've ever seen. and got away with it.
Decent article - though the "spell it out in black and white" still makes me cringe. Saw a few with the scarves yesterday. Still think it's stupid.
