Hate to say it- because it's Chelsea- but it should have been a pen whether he went down or not.
This only gives more ammo to those who say you should go down at every opportunity or you get nothing.
Clear pen, imo.

Can't see how Maureen can keep going. Its clear the players aren't for him anymore (strange since they just won the title)

 

Don't disagree. Ref's only give fouls when players go down.. which means when players are tackled which naturally doesn't take them down, they have to fall over unnaturally.. which looks awkward and a dive.

Sometimes refs only have themselves to blame.

 

Absolutely. That was a pen all day long. Whats more annoying for me is that Gerrez the flukey old dog gets a cs and 3 bonus points for his keeper

nope but he would have wiped out remy if remy didnt jump over him and remy as a result of jumping over him lost his footing. To be clear butland didnt touch remy as far as i could tell but remy jumped really high to avoid butland and results in him losing the opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net

 

So not a penalty. And never a red card because the ball was moving away from goal, and other players back.

Remy tried to score an honest goal and messed up.

No one deserves criticism here. Except Jose.

 

Dont think it was a red as keeper was making an honest attempt. Deffo pen and it wasn't away from goal. He was in the centre of the goal when he rounded the keeper, but he slipped when he landed which then caused the chance to go away. Anyway you get some you don't but this is one of those whereby hes absolutely impeded and wasn't an attempt at a dive. Any person with any common sense would have given a pen

 

In a nutshell ................I'm not sure either weather there was any contact, very minimal if any at all.

 

I have Butland as well so was preying it wasn't given... plus I wanted you lot to lose

 

Some years ago we were awarded a pen. for a challenge on David N'gog where there was clearly no contact.......but it was a pen.

 

I only saw it once so I'm not certain, but from the second camera angle- from the rh side of the goal, it looked like Butland's body did catch Remy's left leg as the latter tried to hurdle him. It wasn't conclusive, but my opinion still stands-it's still a pen as far as I'm concerned.
Give them when they're deserved, and punish the divers- we'll see a lot less play-acting then.
