    Newcastle keeper had a blinding game which helped Newcastle, who were under the hammer for most of the match. They really are a poor side. Maybe they will improve as the season goes on and all the new players gel, but they look like relegation material at the moment.

    maybe BUT totally outplayed Sunderland before that ridiculous sending off ans as for Villa <laugh> so Newcastle only need Bournemouth form to continue along with those 2 and they will be safe.
    Have to say some of the Newcastle summer signings have shown themselves to be good players if not consistently
    Sunderland just fallen behind and Vardy scores again <applause>

    As I said if the new players gel I think they will be ok, but on today's showing there is still a fair bit to go. No team wants to be in a position were they are relying on other teams playing worse than they are in order to stay up.

    Even with this win they have fewer points than they got from the same fixtures last season

    They have an incredibly easy start and have failed to take advantage in terms of points or performances

    Things are going to go downhill very rapidly for them in the 2nd half of the season

    With the fans already turning on him, the only chance Van Gaal has is to rely on the owners being too cheap to pay off the last year of his contract
