Thanks to the wonders of the Internet I was able to see tonights game which was interesting. Lots of good things at the back, midfield will be ok but up front we have very little to shout about.

This is our first game against a good side and we need to be quicker down the flanks and have a bit more going on in the box. Lots of huff and puff, especially from Waghorn but very little end product. Nugent should add something but we desperately need a 1 if not 2 forward players.

On another note we got stuck in quite a bit!!

the plan is clear- give us a ruthless streak, a bit of aggression, tghter at the back, and so far all the investment has been in that area, now we desperately need to focus on the other end of the pitch- 1 ideally 2 good strikers needed or it will be same as last year tons of chances not enough goals.

Calm down, its was just a friendly and Nugent was injured. Vassell is crap and i dont understand what he does for the team but there will be another striker coming in. I think we should wait if we need to, to make sure we get the right quality player in. We need a goalscorer and we have the money to get him in, we have until the end of August to keep him in so be patient. I think the strikers we have now are good enough to start the season but not to have for the season if that makes sense

    Trust Sven

Agreed. We know Sven is still after a striker, and it's a make or break signing. Every other signing is just back-up (unless we get a winger, which would be quite important, though I'm not sure how bothered Sven is about that).

So I'll be on tenterhooks for the next couple of weeks as I know that if we get this striker signing wrong, all our money spent might just be a waste.

Agree. gally and nugent will always be a threat but think we'll all be happy when we have another striker come in

Another striker and a Winger and thats a promotion squad there.

Also should look to bring in a fringe midfielder. Perhaps someone young who can have 10 minutes here and there when we are 5-0 up away at Cov for example :p

Think Dyer and Moussa can do that already AK - and only 5 ?

    ;) <ok>

Dyer is surely not good enough now and I'm yet to be convinced by Moussa. I would have loved Routledge here but looks unlikely.

Moussa's quite a versatile squad player, he's decent playing all across the midfield, and comfortable playing in an advanced role as well. Dyer, despite his links to moves away, has publicly stated he wants to fight for games and has no intention of leaving. I don't think he deserves to be mercilessly dropped like a lot have suggested.

I agree with what most is said below, just reporting what I saw and pretty much what we all know. It is just a shame they are not here now so they can integrate with the squad as it's quite clear they will be first choice. But a good striker is hard to come by and I am sure a heck of a lot of work is going on in the background.

I'm not talking about squad players.

Granted Moussa may be that youth player I was talking about, but we need a top top top class winger.

Routledge fits that bill, he is quality.

I do like Dyer's attitude but he's nowhere near good enough for what we're aiming for now. He's in his late 20s and still struggles to use his right foot. He's got where he is with raw pace and little else. He might be good enough for the bench, depending on if we bring in someone else in his position.

Moussa I think is good enough for the bench, but I think we need some pace in the starting 11, who is reasonably proven and consistent at this level.
