Each manager that has been appointed since TF took over has failed miserably. I hope the board is going to look into this. How many failures before the fingers get pointed at TF himself? The man who purchsead an airline for 50p and managed to turn a proffit with the help of others before it going pear shaped. He has ferked AirAsia and Caterham, and saddled us with massive debt. Like Ramsey he is out of his depth and hasnt delivered on any of his promises.
Whilst I don't disagree with any of that, I do worry what will happen to the club once Fernandes leaves. Also, things need to be turned around on the pitch, as we really can't afford to do a Wigan!
It had to happen. I am sure he is well respected at QPR and will continue doing what he he good at i.e. coaching. Now I am pleased that I am going to the game on Saturday (with 4 Swedes), I was expecting a flat or negative atmosphere, but now its going to be buzzing. Colin's blue and white army...
TF should be banned from making any footballing decision after giving Ramsey a 3year contract after getting us relegated! madness.
He was brought in when the idea was to completely revamp the entire first team squad. A couple of seasons in the Championship bringing in (and through) younger players. Then, unless doing exceptionally well, he would have gone - to be replaced by a much higher profile manager to take on a settled team with the orders to add a few more players and gain promotion. If it didn't work then he would be the fall guy. And so it has proved. As TF said, he was saddled with a core of senior players who were not offloaded and then the goal became promotion - something which I feel CR was much less capable of providing than other, more experienced managers. It was a similar thing to Redknapp, although he was expected to get rid of all the "bad apples" AND gain promotion AND push on - all in twelve months. Harry, in the main, turned to older players that he knew and thought that he could trust and control. Bringing in younger players would have been a very big risk and there would have been a good chance that promotion would have been off the cards. I think that a new manager might be able to spur us on to promotion, but we won't be any better placed in the Prem than the last two attempts.
Well said Eamon, I have been saying the same and when the brown stuff hits the fan the supporters will go ballistic as usual and the merry go round starts all over agin. I really wish we could give some of the money we are going to burn to a good cause at least someone might find it useful!
Why would Ramsey stay and coach our youth? He did well with spurs for a long time. He can get a much bigger/better premier league club with a proper academy and facilities
I hate, really HATE, changing manager yet again. I did not support Ramsey getting the job in the first place after his unsuccessful audition in the Premier League but, once appointed, I would have preferred to give him more time to get things right. Clearly, the signs were not good and it would have been painful but the poor man has had the goalposts moved: a target of long-term consolidation suddenly became a target of instant promotion. I would fear for our club without Tony Fernandes and his wealthy partners but he is a successful businessman and he must know the importance of having a long-term strategy. You don't change strategy every 3 months! I sincerely hope that Ramsey accepts an offer to be in charge of QPR youth development because he has the track record of being a successful coach. However, that is probably unrealistic. He is a decent man and he has every right to feel aggrieved. As to the new manager, I sincerely hope we bide our time and get the right man. The knee jerk reaction of going for Sherwood just because he is (unsurprisingly) available - and a mate of Ferdinand's - would be very wrong. Pearson has a much better track record but, whilst he might be successful, I really do not like the man. But then I didn't like Fergie and I don't like Mourinho and they seem to have done quite well! If we have to wait until the Summer merry-go-round when better options are available, so be it. I think I might actually enjoy the football for the rest of this season with Warnock in charge, promotion or not.
This season is pretty much foooked. Yes we might reach the play-offs, but there is zero chance of automatic promotion. So what's the point in having Warnock here until the end of the season just to start all over again? No, get a new man in now and let him have this season to shape his team so that we're ready to go next season and have a proper challenge for promotion.
Lads honestly its not worth chewing the fat … The club under TF has to be an acceptable joke. He will be off soon I hope. This is about a gamble to get us in with a chance and if NW does it then its bronze statue time IMO If we don't make it and put shape into the championship that currently shows Hull and Burnley where they should be we are knackered. TF wants promotion and the money that goes with it so he can escape Feel sorry for CR but again stability has been thrown out in the circus of football .. but we move on again
I assumed our quietness in the market was because we wanted to avoid FFP (this year's and previous year's fines) and to try and get some stability - hence mid-table to play-offs was the aim. If it's automatic promotion as it seems - why weren't we spending like Derby and Boro? Never really got going for Ramsey - maybe Villa and WBA away? Struggling to think of any this season where we looked accomplished
for the life of me, i can't understand why they can't offer one to two year contracts with managers to test the water. Then if it goes tits up it doesn't cost you a fortune. Especially with an unproven manager like CR. I understand that Jurgen Klopp might think you were taking the piss offering a one year jobbie but for people like CR, just learning their trade, it makes total sense. I feel sorry for the guy but we were going nowhere quickly.
Shuffling the deckchairs. I'd love to see Fernandes gone but the level of debt he's racked up has made us pretty much unsellable unless he and his partners take a hit and it won't happen as long as their multi billion property development on the back of the club is still possible. If this gets knocked back we'll go under. If it doesn't they'll get their money back and, based on the last four years, we'll be renting the best stadium in League Two. We're stuck with him. Ughh.
Agree Norway he should have gone a long time ago. I kept saying week after week that he was ruining our chances but once again our board were slow to act. With Sky saying that we want a manager in by the 20th would suggest that NW doesn't want the job. Maybe he has seen some of Benny's buys
I am amused by Les's assertion that as we kept our best players that expectations have changed. Really? Here's the truth the reason that Fer, Phillips, Austin , Sandro are still here is that we were asking for money that only Premiership teams could afford, and guess what they did not think they were worth it; reason being that they aren't actually very good players! Why would people think they would 'tear up the Championship'? While it may not be the best quality people need to respect this division. You need players who are grateful to be playing in it, not looking down on it as though it is an inconvenience. I feel a bit sorry for CR, but on reflection it was unreasonable to expect a guy in his first managerial job at 52 to try and save a team from relegation and then if they did go down get them promoted first time. It would have been better for him if he has managed at a lower level first. I hope he enjoys success elsewhere.
Just catching up on what appears another slow week at QPR after being away. Feel a little sorry for CR as came across as a decent guy but coaching is his level & the fact is he wasn't a manager & shouldn't really have ever been chucked in at the deep end in the first place but that (crap) decision stands with TF & Sir Les to go with the many other poor decision been made over the past number of years.
