    I think as kids we always said bomfire - I know I did. I'm sure there's other words like that but I can't think of any off hand <laugh>

    Is bommy a Scouse thing or a new thing? I don't recall hearing it called that as a child.

    I think it's scouse but funny thing is, when you're kids you aren't aware that nowhere else uses a particular word that is commonplace to you, you only find that out either when you're older and more informed or you move away and nobody understands what you're saying. Ask saint about enog <laugh>

    Yeah, I think it goes back to the time when Liverpool got bombed in the blitz, we say bom(b)fire night as opposed to bonfire night.
    But we also say firewerks instead of fireworks.:biggrin:
