Big week this - disappointing start, need 6/6 from Bolton / Rotherham to get back on track. This appears very much a gifthorse in the mouth kinda week, really need to cash in before the international break. 1-0 win I'll go, it won't be pretty, but we'll be off and running. Thoughts?
Spanish for me if we don't win this / OR Rotherham then I think he'll do the honourable thing and walk. SURELY we HAVE to beat Bolton at H tomorrow?! They're in a right mess!
Weighty likewise and I am a Mick fan but no win in 9......... with international break would make me wonder actually. Lets hope we get 6/6 and we're not that kind of club anyway - I want him to succeed.
The man will not walk, the only way will be to sack him!! I honestly think if we lost our next two, he would still be here, sadly!!
Well like with any manager Spanish, they forfeit their compensation package if they simply do a Coppell - so getting sacked at times is in their interest. Lets hope for a good evening tomorrow. What do people think re the lineup, rotated a bit as 3 games in 8 days?
1-1. Sears and a Bolton player. Mick will say "it was a good point against a solid Bolton side. I'll take that."
Exactly as JJ says above including the drivel that MM comes out with at the end of every game that we were up against solid opposition.
I saw the Bolton Wanderers bus going down Hadleigh High St this morning before turning right towards Lower Layham I would assume on its way to Stoke By Nayland Golf Club, unfortunately the Sat Nav has failed to tell the driver that those lanes are just about wide enough for a wheelbarrow after a couple of miles, I hope they make it.
Anyone who is fooled by what Mick's comes out with isn't very smart. He says it after every single game and keeps everything internal. Oh how I miss the days of Keane telling the interviewer " this is crap this player is crap ".....................
My biggest fear is we go out there with the 'oh it's only Bolton' attitude and then they stick 3 past the the Pickle at the Posts..........
For as long as we have a policy of not spending money for quality players we will not get promoted, even Bournemouth spent several millions in their promotion season and until we do the same we will remain just another medium sized Championship Club who cant fill their Stadium, no matter who the manager is. Don't blame the manager blame the person holding the purse strings, personally I cant see why MM would want to stay here when the owners ambition is sadly lacking, if MM and his team go who the hell else would want to come here under the same financial restraints? why was there no investment last January when the prize was almost in reach? I cant understand why other fans cant grasp the fact that free transfers in this division and below are other Clubs cast offs that nobody else wants, its still possible to build a reasonable team with them as MM has shown but promotion? Can you imagine if we had somehow won the play offs last season how this team would be doing in the Prem? No me neither and I try not to think about it.
Agreed with most of that fieldmarshall. It is worth acknowledging that McCarthy cannot be completely absolved of blame. Over the past couple of months, he has combined erratic team selection, an alienation of some supporters, and a negative style of football, which have all been factors in our recent poor form. However, this is a manager who has us punching above our weight and, generally speaking, I believe he's been a success. We're at risk of repeating the same old arguments, but I think it's incredibly important to highlight the fact he's managed all this on a very tight budget, compared to several Championship clubs that have ignored the toothless FFP regulations, and provided their respective managers with a competitive transfer budget. Should Evans declare that money will be available in January, and our form has not continued to dip, then I believe McCarthy should be given the opportunity to spend, should he require it, and properly build on last season. Of course, if we continue to struggle and record stalemates at home, then the new money should signify a break from the current style and be used to bankroll an effective overhaul of the squad, where necessary.
Agree with that Nuggets and as you say theres no point in rekindling the same old arguments, I suppose we all want the same thing for our Club and share the frustrations when things don't go the way we want them to, plus the added expectation of even better performances than last season when perhaps we over achieved, but im still going tonight, still going to away matches when I can, and still supporting our Club come what may.
