Gotta disagree with that mate. Apart from the 5th goal, he could've made himself bigger for that instead of goimg down, the goals were down to the defenders, not Pants.
Think he was culpable for at least one today. They had 7 shots on target and scored 6. Come on! 1st goal Delu lucky in that it was a poor shot. No fault from GK 2nd goal i think he should save that shot 3rd goal he didnt seem to react to the touch, almost like he thiught it was offside. Perhaps wouldnt have been able to save anyway. 4th goal exposed, question his starting position but cant tell from tv. 5th goal went down too early, being hyper critical. 6th goal no real blame
Some he could nothing about but he made mistakes for the first two goals. He was megged with two defenders between him and a ball, not like he was megged from a one on and needed to look big. Then when Kone blindsided him he should have known he was going near post(anticipation) but barely adjusted (positioning). I was screaming at him to get over. Blaming the defenders for those two when they'd put themselves between the goal and the ball is unfair imo. Yes our own formation caught us out but that's it's own issue so not going to pile blame on them for that. Most of our defensive mistakes came much later in goals Pants could do nothing about. Just my opinion. I think Pants is a very good Keeper but he's been ****e this season and he was ****e today.
Fair dos fella but I know who's the inform keeper of our three and he's pissing on the Championship. Can't prove yourself until you've had a chance to prove yourself. By your logic the lad can never break through.
Thats always the case though isn't. Thats why Watmore hasn't had the chances. But there are more options with strikers, less so with goalies. It would be seen as a gamble, replacing Pants with a Championship goalie. I just don't we're at that point yet to need to do that
Saw a save by Pickford today, first time ive seen him. Was surprised and disappointed by how small he looked. Never like a small keeper, me. Kelvin Davies still gives me nightmares about the little kid in goal and all the bigger boys just placing it in the corner so he cant reach!
No clinical play - need to start with Watmore - goal machine but lacking first team game time - imo - I can see us messing his career up like Whickham's In theory I agree but Pants is part of the defence - he needs to communicate with authority to our shaky outfield defenders - not hesitate passing ball out or regularly kicking to no one on our team - appallingly bad here imo - far outweighs what strengths he has - the defence needs confidence of a reliable goalie - could he be part of reason for shaky defence ??
Thats news to me re Pickford height - so well rated as well -must have a spring loaded body - maybe not as clear cut as we thought - perhaps our former player of the year Mannone back in for a few games - expect he MAY BE initially rusty but will soon resume his form - he seems so passionate re our team -imo we've no other options - Pants has no confidence at moment !!
If I've no confidence in him - there are many others - psychologically what do our defenders really think when under the cosh with Pants in goal atm
Sadly there's no easy fix! I watched Mannone twice this season. Against Exeter and man city and he looked awful in both games! Pantilimon against the mags first half as terrible but was very good second half after a top class save from Mitrovic. Today he should've caught the hat trick goal. It wasn't put in with pace and it wasn't difficult. He headed it from 5 yards from a sliced cross. Twice Wes Brown was waiting for him to come get the ball and ended up having to clear! That said, I can't really think of another goal he was to blame for today other than the sixth so he didn't impact the result. One thing though... How good did Watmore look when he came on? He's got to be close to starting games! Fast, tricky and confident. Made stones look like our defence!!
I disagree about the first one bri. It hit the defender and went through his legs. Wasn't megged by the striker but megged by the deflection. Second one I think he was unsighted and bent to get a better look when kone hit the shot. that said he was poor today! Not sure about Pickford as I think he'll get overrun in the pl.
