    .......... at Sunderland!

As this happy feeling may end later today I'm watching the whole derby match recording again.

I didn't notice at the time but for the Jones goal, from the corner, we actually had a plan.

We sent all the big lads into the box which dragged in the Newcastle defence. M'Vila 'hides' and peels off when AJ sends the ball long. As the defenders try to reach him they're blocked off by Kaboul, Fletcher, etc which allows a clear strike on goal. Jones was on top of the keeper and in the right place when the ball was fired in.

I don't remember seeing a corner kick routine for a long time at Sunderland but this brought us a goal.
I've said for ages that we need to become more cynical and use 'John Terry' techniques.
If it brings us half a dozen more goals a season that could make a big difference at the end.

Allardyce is absolutely meticulous with dead ball stuff. When the scumbags beat us 5-1, 3 of their goals were from corners where someone was stood on the keeper (chicken twat). It's good to see. We had a plan with Bruce but it appeared to be very one dimensional in the "hard and low" category. JOS would speak to the corner taker and hold up a number of fingers on one hand. That was the routine we were going with.
Agree totally about the blocking techniques. We do need to be more cynical. I'm sort of looking forward to the match this afternoon! First time in ages

So who is the best dead ball specialist now?

M'Vila's free kick, at Villa, was one of the best I've ever seen from Sunderland, I'd like to see a few more like that.

Agree that we had a plan with it. Billy Jones running in is what got the goal as Wijnaldum would have blocked it at the far post if he hadn't tapped it in first. If Big Sam can organize our dead ball play better, that will be a massive plus with people like AJ & Seb to take them.

    That was my first thought.

Just got that used to Larsson blasting the ball left right and centre or often into the wall.

Larsson was (when he first signed) but there's an irony on this when we had the free kick against Swansea at 1-1 and mvila was standing over it in the last seconds and Larsson came on to take it. Then a week later mvila stocks that villa one in the top corner.

We scored a well worked goal from a training ground move earlier in season away from home. Can't remember who against though. It was a brilliantly worked goal from a corner which involved players getting blocked off etc. Anyone remember it?

Big Sam's first game Gomez took the corner, I said to my lady, he won't be taking those for very long in Big Sam's team.

Read Big Sam's book last week. Worth a read, he's an absolute stat man. He'll know the percentage of goals scored from corners when someone is blocked off vs. not!

BSA style - winning meaningful goalscoring football - some pretentious supporters have a problem with similar football - very odd - dark sided followers please note - brings success
