Fair amount of chatter on Twitter today about Sam Volkes and a connection to Watford, anyone heard anything solid? If likely then waht do you think? Good news or not?

I havent heard this rumour, but assuming he is seriously linked with us, his stike rate has been fairly unspectacular at this level to say the least. That said, at 21 he is someone we could nurture. Lets wait and see what unfolds...

The only place I've seen his name mentioned is the Football Rumours web-site, with the latest rumour being: "Sam Vokes deal is/was back up plan to announce if or weimann don't pan out"

His name has been commented on there a few times. I haven't seen anything on Twitter!

I thought he would be quite expensive, so didn't think he would be on out list of targets!

I considered him to be someone with potantial, but hasn't really settled anywhere, going on loan to a number of places since his move to Wolves. I think he would be a good signing, at the right price! Maybe he needs a permanent deal somewhere to kick on with his career!

His Wikipedia entry had him listed as a Watford player this morning, but that has since been changed.

The Rumour Fairies have been at work overnight methinks!

His name has been mentioned a number of times on twitter over the last few hours, most people asking whether theres any truth in the rumour. A little more research has revealed that since leaving Bournemouth he hasnt really had a decent run in any team, either being kept out of the side by the good form of other strikers or through injury.

We definitely need another striker, with Iwelumo surely unable to last 90 minutes every game and Deeney still unproven - Vokes could well be the next DG, so as i said lets wait and see what happens :)

To be fair, there are a lot of young players who don't have too good goal scoring records. But Vokes has not been a regular for Wolves, even in the Championship.

Personally I think that he is a pretty good player. But then again....we already have 3 strikers....maybe we plan on playing Deeney on the wing though I think that is a little bit of a shame for him.

I think something to note is that he is young, but has already knocked up a decent amount of games for Wales. With strikers player Bellamy and Earnshaw that is pretty good.....even if it is Wales.

On another board someone said his brother met him at the Wealdstone game last night - however it all smacks of an elaborate (Sam) hoax.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this one. He's seemed to have struggled with injuries, and when out on loan appears to have been something of a back-up rather than being seen as good enough to start. If we need another striker I would rather we got a bit of a target man so we have Iwelumo/new signing to compliment Deeney and Sordell who seem to be a little less physical in their play and prefer the ball to feet.

I always thought Deeney was a target man. He is definitely not a "fox in the box" pacey kind of player! Troy needs to find his place at Watford as last year was a big disappointment for him in my view.

i'm also hoping this is Troy's year...i feel it's make or break for him this season...he needs to find confidence in going for a goal...he seems to have lost that at the moment..
