Has just landed himself a new job. Let's hope he takes Mavrias back to Greece and not forgetting Bridcutt who he famously said he rates him that highly, he'd take to Madrid with him if he ever got the Real Madrid job .. Gus Poyet has reassembled his Sunderland backroom team at AEK Athens after his move to Greece was rubber-stamped. Poyet today penned a deal until the end of the season at Athens, with an option to extend that contract by a further two years. It sees the ex-Sunderland head coach return to the dug-out for the first time since being sacked at the Stadium of Light in March. And Poyet will have a couple of familiar faces alongside him in Greece, with Mauricio Taricco and Charlie Oatway joining him in his return to management. Assistant Taricco and coach Oatway both worked under Poyet at Brighton and then at Sunderland, before parting ways with the Black Cats in the Spring too. Poyet said: "I've been astonished by the warm welcome from everyone. "Our goal is to win every single game, starting with the derby with Panathinaikos."
Read this earlier, maybe they think he could be the solution to AEK's problems or just a man that makes the refugee's feel at home.. You can here it now in Syrian dialect (whatever the **** that is), hey dude, just met Gus Poyet, nice man, great ass but a proper ugly ****..
And his wages, boots, tesco carrier bag, personality, 3 fold portable tent and his bicycle, you get know wher in Athens without a pair of wheels.. Seriously, I wish the man the best, he scored six against the mags as a player and gave us two derby wins.. Sometimes **** doesn't work out right..
Wish him the best. Always talks about us fondly - maybe due to the handsome payout he received or maybe he genuinely enjoyed it here. His Management of SAFC took me to Wembley - so for that amongst others I'll always be grateful.
One of the most memorable seasons in my lifetime came because of gus. I'll not slate he bloke for anything other than his Bridcutt comments!
