In the aftermath of Friday's shameful and unsavoury incidents at Darlington, Newcastle United are currently working with Northumbria Police to identify those individuals who were responsible for criminal behaviour during the game.

The club will not tolerate any kind of criminal or anti social behaviour from fans at home or away fixtures, and anyone who is identified as being involved in such behaviour, may be subject to a 'Club Banning Order' over and above any action taken by the police.

The club has already received calls from a number of law abiding fans who have provided information which will help identify offenders. This information is being treated in the strictest confidence and will be shared with the police.

Two Newcastle United fans aged 20 and 21 have already been arrested and charged with pitch incursion and associated public order offences, and the police will be seeking lengthy banning orders for these individuals.

In order to combat any possible trouble at future away fixtures, a new policy will be implemented by the club which will see ticket sales restricted to Season Ticket Holders and Members only. As such the buyer will be held accountable for any trouble associated with the purchase/use of a ticket.

Supporters attending the forthcoming game at Leeds will be reminded in advance of the game of their responsibilities to the club, fellow supporters, and the game of football as a whole.

Newcastle United sincerely hopes that this incident is a one-off never to be repeated again and that as the 2011/12 season unfolds, the good name, fervour and loyalty of its fans will once again be to the fore up and down the country.

Good ****ing call Mike Ashley!! Although it seems money grabbing and a perfect way to force people to become members, its a good idea. We have to keep an eye on who these people are.

Unlikely, as it just now means no General Sale. It makes no difference to those who are members and who are ST holders, the club just want as many names on the books as possible. Means if you are in trouble at a game, the person responsible for buying the ticket gets the blame, meaning the person who has committed the crime is putting someone else in danger which may make them think twice.

Does it really make much of a difference once the season starts? I got the impression last year that away tickets rarely even got to public sale? Having said that, I probably couldn't have afforded to do away trips as well as almost every home match

It gives those who don't want to pay £20 membership fee or whatever it is now a chance of getting a ticket when it goes to general sale. They may only want to go to one game, why should they pay £20 for the privilege? It seems the club are punishing everyone though which is quite unfair. I do see it as a money making scheme.

The only problem is that I was planning on buying a Membership this year anyway in order for me to have more chance of getting to away games nearby. However if everyone has to become a member then surely this is now going to reduce my chances of getting tickets again :(

It just means that you have to be on the ball when getting tickets, no waiting round.

No I get that, but I thought last year the away tickets often sold out before they reached general sale anyway? I could be mistaken though

That's a good enough amount. I reckon it'll go to 30. I think you have enough.

I don't know enough about this to know whether it is money grabbing or sensible. I am a member so am aware what details the club has on me and in that sense understand how video footage of me leaving my allocated seat to cause any kind of trouble could be traced back to me. Surely the club has the same address and name details for a casual ticket buyer though and in the case of both members and casual buyers it is difficult for stewards to tell whether the ticket holder is the ticket buyer as, unlike home matches, entry is by paper ticket and not by member's card. If, as a member, I bought an away ticket and sold it on (I imagine that's against policy) then the person in my seat caused trouble it would probably come back to bite me on the arse. But how is that any different to a casual buyer who surely agrees that the purchase of their ticket is for their own use and not for resale? What I'm trying to get at is I don't think a non-member is any less traceable than a member when it comes to trouble. If they trace your seat number back to the purchasing address and it turns out you did pass on your ticket then, depending on the severity of the offence, you would probably be expected to aid the police/club in finding the perpetrator and should probably expect some form of punishment for forwarding the ticket.

I'd say over half went to General Sale. I know that Blackburn, Wigan, Birmingham, Everton and Man City did off the top of my head.

I want to get to a few London away games... as i can't afford to get up to the home games, i'll pay for a membership as long as I know i'll be able to get to 3 or 4 games this season. Have I got much chance do you reckon?

For the London ones you'll be fine. As long as you don't wait and wait to order them.
