Yeah I had a feeling going 5 at the back would just invite pressure. Shame for Gerks as he had kept us in the game previously. Gutting but still an improvement and hopefully a determination to get max points from next two home games

This run has all the hallmarks of August - Halloween 2009.

Inconsistent line ups full of underperforming players being asked to play a negative brand of football, seemingly unable to buy a win and prone to the occasional battering.
The manager seen as stubborn and belligerent.
All this after a summer of promising signings.

It's depressing but for now I'm still willing to back Mick, although I'm struggling to say why.

" Back 5, inviting them onto us!! "

Completely agree Spanish was at the game let me run you through my thoughts - for what it's worth, Niles looked beyond dead with 55 on the clock how he lasted 90 I will never know.

Now, that 1-1 was a death blow. Gerken from what I could see absolutely made a stupid decision - his decision making is so very very poor. First half, he did an unbelievable save ( looked it in the ground ) to stop Forest going 1-0 up. His shot stopping is very good. His decision making and command of the area is bloody awful.

First of all, I'm glad to read no Mick slating actually so well done all. He was very bold with the team selection, picking with the squad we have MAYBE the 11 ( bar Gerken/ Chambers RB ) people wanted to see.

The positives - and there were quite a few yesterday actually that's the best I've seen from us this season ( not difficult as I've only seen us live vs Bristol City/ Yanted/ Reading ) but still, it was.

    * Line up - Mick, give Dids/ Sears/ McGoldrick a run together. Much better. Had decent balance too.
    * Style of play - DEFINITELY a shift into trying to play footy. Much more on the deck.
    * McGoldrick / Berra were back to their best. Absolutely class the pair of them.
    * Douglas was very VERY good when he came on. Everything simple, used the space well. I think in a 4-3-3 he may well be like a new signing.

    Negatives -

    * Bar scoring W T F has happened to Jonny Parr. Anyone writing " Parr should be starting " sadly, based on that, no he should not. Bloody hopeless. Got roasted alive time after time. We thought it in the ground, lift shared with a Forest fan who asked if Mick put him on " for a laugh " as he was one of the worst full backs he'd ever seen at Forest. If Parr wants to play again at full back he's going to have to put it in.
    * Late conceding - was this directly a result of the sub? I'm 50-50 on this. Forest weren't threatening and it was a mix up.... so I don't know. Until that happened we were v comfortable. We DID however need the win as we're 7 off play offs 7 off the drop so bang average!
    * Players plain as day had zero confidence to play footy. Sadly that's what happens when you're without a win for so long.
    * Chances created - so everyone behind the screen says " he should be playing he should be playing " - sorry, i'm still going to trust the opinion of a manager who sees them training more than others. People saying about Bru SHOULD be playing every game he's this he's that - sure he was decent but created a big fat zero.
    * Sears may have pace but his decision making regarding runs at times is bloody awful. That said, if you've heard him speak he's not the most articulate of people I've ever heard.......

Overall, that was a big improvement though and depending on how McCarthy decides to go the next few weeks with selection we could yet come good. I'm not writing him off yet, this season off, that was a lot better. Lets hopefully beat Cardiff and get the express going.

Funny how people see it differently, many thought it was a slight improvement but both teams look very very poor and mid table at best!!
Also, you fail to mention Bru, the player you really dont rate but who has apparently been our best player last 2 games!! The ball has been on the deck more because Bru has been playing, simples!!

Oops sorry for double post, also Westy, if you were to be honest, we should have been dead and buried by half time, which is not good!!

Dead and buried by half time ? Very 50-50 first half, we were by far the better side first 15 Forest created nothing first half really bar the good save 1-0 either way would have been fair but no, in no way " should we have been dead and buried " first half at all.

It wasn't great Spanish at all not saying it was - I gave a balanced scorecards it was still pretty poor but it was a lot better so if I can see progress then that's what I'm there for. Was never going to be fluid footy with a team with zero confidence.

I do rate Bru actually - his passing is good, his energy is good, brave, tracks back but his positioning is bloody awful - he's often miles out of position. If he sorted that out, as I've said many time before he'll be a far far better player.

I quite like Bru but if I see him as more of a bit part player and happy for him to fill in but if we're looking at challenging for promotion he shouldn't be one of the first names on the team sheet. I think why he is so highly rated is that he's not just a workhorse like most of our other CM's , he does actually have a bit of footballing talent, however he isn't that good, he's a handy little player but no more

Completely agree Itfcptc Bru is decent but nothing to jizz our pants about whatsoever.

Certainly has ability on the ball, can beat a man and pass it simple, however-

    * Defence splitting pass? no.
    * Score many/ get in position to? no.
    * Superb delivery? Not really.
    * Good positional awareness? Absolutely not.
    * Good in the air? No.

He did quite well yesterday but some fans creaming themselves to such levels about Bru is bizarre.

" but who has apparently been our best player last 2 games!! "

Probably because he certainly wasn't one of our best 2 or 3 players at Forest, that may be why.

I think Bru's reputation has benefited from not being in the team during the poor spell...........he is an okay player but Kevin de Bru......not quite.

Spanish I get that, I fully understand you wanting Mick out. However, while we can all slate and give credit, you willing to give him any and actually have a go yesterday? I was pleasantly surprised by the line up and would love him to keep faith with a similar line up at home to Cardiff.

If we go back to 4-4-2 Douglas/ Skuse / McGoldrick bench then he's going to invite a lot of pressure next Sat evening if we don't win!

It's all well and good saying " Mick out " - well lets think about it logically for a second.

1- We'd have to pay him a compensation package.
2- The transfer window is shut.

Also, for the Mick out gang - fine - so who are we going to get in?

Some of the absolute illicitness at times I find inexplicable. We all know we keep faith with a manager through rough and good, we kept faith with Keane after he had us sodding bottom of the league after 14 games, and fair play for a while Keane DID turn us around. Is Mick ( a far better manager than that ****** ) NOT allowed the same opportunity?

I actually said i was pleased with the more attacking lineup, i wasnt pleased tho that he still cant see the probs with back 5 and to be honest, for all the praise he got for attacking lineup, he blew it by changing to 5 at the back!!
The bloke is a prize ****er and if we have to pay him off, so be it, i am sure ME can afford it!!

a few random thoughts from me
1)according to the BBC final score report there was only one team in it and it wasn't us. Forest dominated apparently.
2)Typical that the player that scored against us was one that we should never have got rid of imho. Typical of that moron Keane.
3)From seeing the starting line up I have no idea how you fit that into a team so can only guess that we shunted our star striker this season out wide and taking that star player off for an inexperienced defender for the last five minutes is, for me, a sign of stupidity.

I was at the game and that's absolute rubbish. It was a very 50-50 game, infact in the car on the way back Jake the Forest fan thought they were bloody awful.

    2 - Agreed - I liked Trotter for us!

    3- Kinda 4-3-3 first half.

Agree Spanish that defence concerns me no ends! Berra was a lot better, Chambers didn't do bad but Parr really was not v good. Hopefully he'll get a run and get back to his best as I'm a big fan of him!

The sub I found v weird - weird in that Sears was withdrawn and not Niles who was absolutely hanging. We actually bar the mix up game managed very well ( academic I know as we threw it away)

I guess onto the next it is.......... looking an awkward season really. Just want a win and to turn the corner.
