as above im getting married on 5th august which was all well and good when the season started on 6th but now im presented with a potential problem. i feel its unreasonable for me to attend the match but watching it on sky is acceptable....right?

i turn to you not606'ers to offer any advice or plans as to how best i can negotiate this tricky situation.

    regards,

My dad went to see City on his wedding day, and I went on mine!

In his case it was the FA Cup 6th round against Man U where we had 55000+ in Boothferry Park.

34 years later (by coincidence I share an anniversary with the parents), mine was slightly less memorable: against Scunny in Div 4. We got married, went to the reception, then about a half a dozen of us went to the match and back to the reception/party afterwards.

This has not proved to be a problem - 28 years later, still happily married (although her ladyship refuses to go to games any more). When/if junior ties the knot I think he should keep up what could become a family tradition.

honeymoon aint until 19th august so opportunity to get to the home matches inbetween. ive dropped a few hints in (casually positioned in jest) about scooting off with my hull born and bred father to watch it on tv but what makes the situation worse is that the reception is in her mums substantial back garden and although its a lovely pad she doesnt have sky sports. viewing would mean a 2 minute drive to her sisters who does.

thanks for your best wishes, the future mrs bigfat isnt a football fan but other than that she's a cracker.

Oh dear. June and July ONLY for marriage. i missed Hull City 1 Sunderland 4 on a saturday many years ago when Sunderland had more fans in the ground than Hull. 10,000 at least. AND that was after the Tiger had beaten Oldham 3-0 on the Good Friday. Yes in those days teams playes 2 games in 2 days. now its good friday and easter monday.
it was my aunts wedding and no excuse was allowed.

AS FOR YOY BIGFATTIGER, The dye is cast. Get the reception area rigged up with sky TV and watch there, but for sure YOUR DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING, BUT YOU SURE WILL MATE.:redface:

Good luck and best wishes regardless. <ok>

    Good luck fattiger.

Some suggestions I can think of, do you have sky sports? If so take your laptop (or use there's) and watch it on sky player, a substitute could be an iPhone or iPad as you can watch sky sports on there.

Why did you not plan your wedding for the off-season? tut tut, there's nothing else to do on a weekend when there's no football on.

i have an iphone which i dont utilise fully so the skysports app might be a wedding present to myself, good idea!

if i could somehow guarantee a victory i'd be more likely to get a pass but she knows what i get like after we lose (heart on sleeve) and i think her concern would be that if we did my some miracle end up getting beat it would take the shine off the day. id be worse watching a loss than just seeing the result come up. the service is at 11 and she likes her cardi cokies so with any luck she'll be unconscious by half7 and then we're good to go!

i just overlooked it kempton but thinking on, she did once dump a lad called james cause he had personal hygiene issues and a tiny penis. let it go mate, you've been found wanting and beaten by a better man.
