I had no idea what it was until this happened either, but it seems it breaks down everything that goes into your stomach, as well as regulating the level of insulin in your blood, so it's fairly important. You can only get a transplant if you have life threatening Type 1 Diabetes, you also don't transplant it on it's own, you have to transplant several organs together, so it's not a very pleasant. Apparently, the desire to have a drink isn't a good enough reason to go through the proceedure, but I would if I could. I'm still smoking, they're not taking any more of my pleasures away. In fact, I'm thinking of taking up heroin.
