please log in to view this image Quite an interesting development, our sixteen year old left back Josh Tymon (who signed a new two year deal in the summer), has started training with the first team this week (courtesy of Phil Buckingham).
Yeah I just saw his name mentioned on the pics the official twitter account posted of training this afternoon.
Good to see a number of the development squad with the 1st team this week, would be great to see one or more of them make the leap...
I'd love the club to start giving game time to our youngsters but I just don't think they're up to scratch. Only Tom Cairney and Cooper have actually made a decent career at a good level in recent years. Would like us to spend a bit more developing our own youngsters so we have a steady stream of good players coming through. Ala Southampton/Everton
My point is we've had plenty of young players in the past and hardly any of them have made a career at a decent level. Many of them will drop down the leagues and either rot there or pack it n and do something else. It's not a case of I'm not letting anyone prove it, if anyone was good enough I'm sure they'd have come through in the last 5/10/20 years but no one has.
Townsend said on RH a few weeks ago that he isn't allowed to train with the first team. This lad must be highly rated if he is.
Well well. Cant think who tipped this lad up. Oh it was me. http://www.not606.com/threads/city-under-18s-v-brentford.285759/page-2#post-7377716 "Just read the official match report and it was Josh Tymon who crossed it for our first. Whisper it but this lads only 15, last year of school and played the full game and extra time against a very big very strong Brentford team. Fingers crossed for him." http://www.not606.com/threads/youth-players-ready.302779/#post-8002071 "I'd get Josh Tymon in to the squad. Just 16 but he's going to make it barring injury." I should be a scout.
Since Dudgeon (still yet to find a club) left Robertson hasn't really had any real opposition to the LB position from an actual left back. If this lad has impressed enough (I've only seen him play once last season and he looked alright, although at the time I wasn't aware he was only 16) then it's promising.
