Fail to convert chances and lapses at the back. We can play as well as you like but these issues are a recurrent theme and will see us rooted the bottom until sorted. Disappointed, Kodjia was not given better service playing off the shoulder of last defender with pace to burn and our midfield, in particular Pack unable to read it. Still say it Pack not good enough at this level and needs replacing. Big spend required in January, not enough quality in key positions.
SC says we created tons of chances but didn't take them....so why leave Cox on the bench until it's too late?
A recurring story of the season so far. We can't keep ignoring this fact and making excuses for it over and over again whilst saying how unlucky we've been. It gets very old very quickly. The simple fact is that we are not ruthless enough by half, but more likely if we're being honest, we don't have the quality who will convert 80-90% of the chances presented to them anyway, nor do we have the quality to keep clean sheets very often. Until we start converting putting these chances away and tightening up at the back, we will continue to struggle. Despite winning last Friday a prime example of what we're wasting up front were the 2 golden opportunities spurned by Wilbs and Ayling against Forest. Had the score been 0-0 at the time, those misses could have cost us dearly too. Had we converted them it would have improved our goal difference....
Its unfortunate that we faced the runaway league leaders on their own patch directly after a win, just as our confidence had received a boost. Lets face it, most people expected us to lose this one, so we simply dust ourselves off and get on with it. Of course I'm disappointed - mainly because we were leading and let it slip - especially conceding YET ANOTHER late goal, but had they been 2-0 up with us getting a consolation it would have ironically been easier to swallow.
Fine line between winning and losing. We seem to be on the wrong end of it too often, no matter how much we are told that we were unlucky or should have taken our chances- The live table in the first half, showed us being 13th, there are a lot of teams around us with similar records and just 2 or 3 more points would bring us much more a respectable position, which I am sure we can be worthy of. Fact is, you go up the table by accumulating points. Only in figure skating and diving do you get points for artistic merit- Goals for v Goals against is all that counts.
I'm beginning to think we just have to hope that over the course of 46 games there will be 3 worse performing teams than us, but despite all the fighting talk, I remain unconvinced. We are fast approaching 1/3rd of the season already and it's too tight to call. Any team in the bottom 8 that is capable of putting 2 or 3 wins together on the bounce will rocket up the table.
Who told you we are? all conjecture. There were many on here praising Wilbs for his last display.. Did you expect him to be dropped after 2 goals? What I can agree with is getting him (or another) on when its not happening for Wilbs, like last night!
Yes - Wade Elliott and Matt Smith spring to mind - both not playing many games and came to us not fit - the loan was successful on all fronts
Because the fit ones are generally playing! Then their clubs don't really want to send first teamers out on loan. Sometimes Jeffery you can talk ****e, you let your family down
Have you been a cock all your life ROD, or just since I've known you ..............and theres me thinking he is fit and firing on all cylinders, but down the pecking order and not getting enough game time so a loan move suited everyone.
Backing up my point perfectly. Matt Smith did not come to us 100%. In fact it took him over a month to score his first goal for us. So there is your proof as to why it is still beneficial to loan players who are unfit.
