I’m sure there will be huge excitement on the forum tomorrow, amongst my regular readers, as it sees the first runner from my 10 to follow list. MISS CRICK, in the Mares Bumper, the lucky last, at Fontwell Park (5.25). This filly was handed a very tough assignment on debut, last term, as Alan King pitched her in against the geldings in an above average National Hunt Flat race at Newbury. The old girl came through it with flying colours though as she stayed on to win most effectively. After that she was pitched in at Listed level ‘oooooooooooooop’ at Aintree but was, I’m afraid, ‘over the top’ for the campaign. I’d ignore that run if I were you, pilgrims. Now back in rude health after her summer break Miss Crick should oblige of the morrow before going on to contest the ‘Listed’ Mares Bumper next month at Cheltenham. After that it should be hurdling for the old girl and it really wouldn’t surprise me to see her aimed at the new ‘Mares Novice Hurdle’ at the Cheltenham Festival. An excellent prospect who should further her reputation tomorrow. Good luck, troops.
I am sure he will reveal all later odddy but Harry has schooled really well. Nice little race to start him off him but competitive enough for only five starters. Calipto will take some beating if they have him ready!
Indeed, exciting season ahead if he takes to fences. Pretty annoying the lack of novice chases as youre always going to run into a good one and this is no exception with Calipto entered but we have to start somewhere. On hurdle ratings he has a huge amount to find: (he's rated 127 (130 high) vs Calipto 142 (149) Money Talks 130 (130) Wadwick Court 132 (136). I think he will improve alot for a fence but not that much if Calipto can jump! He was always brought to be a chaser so hopefully that turns out to be the case. All i can say is that he has summered amazingly and really grown. He schooled under Dickie yesterday morning who said he would be absolutely fine and he knows where his feet are and what he's doing. Hes flying on the gallops and theyre as pleased as they can be but this is a very tough assignment and we would be happy to get him back with a nice clear round in one piece.
Best of luck with Harristown Don Where did he get his name from? There's a Harristown about 1 km from me so I might have to throw a few squid on him purely for that fact.
Very best of luck with Harristown, as already mentioned this looks a hot little race and it will be good to see him have a nice education and get round safely. They go 4/6 Calipto this evening and 13/2 your fellla, might be a nice little forecast?
You can get 8s and suspect will drift a bit further. I was expecting Calipto to be shorter and been plenty of money around for him Forecast worth a few quid for sure, can see him beating Wadswick Court.
Serious pudner, hard to believe he used to be a jockey!he'd carry the donkey in the donkey dash!Great trainer though, seems like a good egg as well
We didn't name him but he must be named after one of the many Harristowns in Ireland but I always assumed the one in County Kildare not far from The Curragh.... pretty sure it would get the ok from Barney which is all that really matters really when it comes to names
Few yards in England are as streaky as Alan King's, when he's hot there very fooking hot and at the minute there piping. Fontwell 2.25 Board of Trade 5/2 Fancy this to see off the jolly from Nicholls as some of his are needing the run. Frys the danger but with the penalty I'd strongly fancy Kingys runner. Ive also put in a double with Miss Crick in the bumper who SBC has told us all about. Good mare this lass.
There could be some money to be made at Newmarket tomorrow by following the cash. The card has quite a few maidens included within it and there will be an awful lot of Newmarket trainers just showing their projects for next season a racecourse, meaning those who are ready to race will likely attract the cash from connections and stand out like a sore thumb, in other words it should not be too difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff tomorrow at Newmarket.
Looking at that Newmarket card I thought it was all 2yos but I see the last is for 3yos. One that takes my eye is Wave Reviews in the 14.35. Debut run. 12/1 "Took keen hold, chased leaders, ridden and chased leader over 1f out until 1f out, still close 4th but keeping on same pace when squeezed for room and snatched up well inside final furlong, not recover and lost 4th on post (op 20/1)" Beaten under 2½l 5th of 16 over this course and distance. 4/1 not a brilliant price in the context of the race but I'd rather be on him at 4s than the fav at those skinny odds. Pedigree. Fair bit of Northern Dancer in there Some cracking milers and middle distance.
This should be straightforward for the fav Imo, given that he ran well in a c2 race over cd and now dropping in grade to a c4. Good luck with your selection though.
Interesting runner in the 3.25 @ Worcester- HORSEGUARDSPARADE- never actually saw a racecourse for Aiden Obrien but held some G1 entries on breeding to he looks an interesting recruit but whether he will be able to tough it out over a slog in soft ground is another thing
