Example: Derby County. 7 February 2015 (same day we drew with Man City) Derby were joint top with Bournemouth and 10 points clear of 7th placed Norwich. Clearly shows that even as late as February, it still doesn't give an indication of were we will finish.
I would have thought the twin aims of balancing books and promotion would be best met by offering one year extensions now with promotion automatically bringing a further year or years. This approach would greatly reduce risk of players walking away free. As for McGregor, I think he will return in May to a newly promoted SPL Rangers.
I don't think being made public would make much of a difference from what I gather football seems to have its own inside gossip grapevine everyone seems to know everything Why on earth would any of them agree to sign that?
I am not sure why there is all this concern over keeping existing players, the ones in question could not contribute towards keeping us up last season and nobody as yet is interested in them this term.
Some people seem to think it's a deliberate ploay to get rid. It's nothing more than cash and the fact we can't risk contracts now. In January we will either sell or risk negotiating If we are up there and clicking as a side that looks like it is going to have a good chance. It's just another **** side of relegation and not a sinister plot to sell the club and force the issue. We just can't afford to be what we want. If we are flying they may take a risk or two...
It's for sale if they're actively trying to sell it, which they are, the price they want/can achieve is a secondary issue.
I know a bloke in Leeds that would probably buy it, especially if it helps with his tax calculations.
We should be trying to keep Davies, McG & Meyler. Hudds & Elmo can go in January IMO, they've drastically looked out of sorts for a while! Cash em in if you can!
Don't see the immediate rush myself, however Bruce did say he wanted to get some of the final year players sorted during the international break. However it is what it is and being in the top 2 come the start of 2016 IMHO will see the situation sorted. It is in all the players own interests to help get the club back into the PL come May time. If they want to leave regardless - again so be it. Football nowadays moves on much quicker than ever before. I tend to agree with both ^^^^^ these.
Don't think that many are concerned. Except,, Only really from the usual suspects who are recalcitrant towards the club.
Surely if the club is up for sale, then letting assets leave for nothing due to contracts expiring is only going to depreciate the value of the club further? It has already been published that the club has debts of £77m, of which (to the best of my knowledge) is to a sole creditor in Mr Allam. So, if you were going to flash cash to the tune of £80m, wouldn't you want to see more value in that investment than just Premier League status? These contracts need nipping in the bud now, with at least offers being tabled to the players. If they refuse them, then fine, leave with our thanks for service, but at least we would know where we stand and Mr Allam may then have to reduce his value of the Club to compensate.
