Pretty much the same here saint, 20 years on various bikes. Some trail, some road, used to do festivals on the bike too
Maybe will wait till Spring then ... keep seeing bikes everywhere and looks badass, was trailing a Harley on the way home last week and had the windows down to hear the engine better. Then some lad was on his Yamaha on the motorway in front of me a few days ago, he nearly almost binned it in front of me trying to be a bit ambitious on a lane change, got it wrong and forced me to break down to 50 in lane 3 ... he put his palm out to say sorry i was glad not to kill him
I was doing about 80 on the M6 yesterday, it was pretty empty at 9.00 on a Sunday, when a Porsche Panama went past at 100+ with a mad biker about 6ft from his bumper. The biker was a Sikh so had no helmet on, just his turban. He was not wearing leathers just jeans, trainers and a jacket. If he had come off he would have just been a smear on the road
They are unless you are a Sikh then you are exempt as you must wear a turban to comply with your religion. As you have to be born a Sikh, it is the only religion you can't convert to, then non Sikh's can't get around the law by wrapping a towel around their head or claiming anything else is a turban and they follow the Sikh religion.
I only ever came off my bike once at any real speed- it was a very odd experience. Thankfully I wasn't hurt badly. I was on my way to work and still had about 10 miles to go so I had to get back on immediately and continue on my way. I must have been white as a sheet though, because as I walked into work an older, experienced biker took one look at me and said " Come off it, have you?" Lots of riders I knew threw themselves off routinely- it's a wonder so many survived.
Speed cameras violate the South Carolina constitution... So illegal for cops to deploy them. In my younger days I'd frequently exceed 90 between intersections where I knew cops couldn't hide. Don't very often go above 80 now. Official speed limit on interstates here is 70mph but unoffially you can go 10mph over speed limits before a cop would pull you over.
Technically a cop is allowed to pull you for going 1mph over. They don't though. Everyone typically goes 10mph over no matter what the speed limit because it's a safe speed not to get a ticket and they plan speed limits assuming everyone will drive 10mph faster than what they post. I have actually been pulled for doing 5mph over (I doubt I was even doing that at the time as I tend to drive slow at night because I have poor night vision)... But that's not really why he pulled me... It was a disguised random stop. I was 19 (under drinking age) and travelling home from university to my parents house through a bar/nightclub area around 1am. He pulled me over. Walked up said "I pulled you over because you were going 5mph over the speed limit. Have you been drinking today?" "No. I'm heading home from university" With that he let me go. No warning. No checking drivers license. No asking for registration or proof of insurance. He was obviously just doing random checks to see if he could smell alcohol and disguising it as "speeding" to get around it being illegal to do random stops.
Yeah that happened to me last year. Said my driving had been 'erratic', which it hadn't, and then breathalysed me which I happily agreed to as I was still in my workout gear and I even offered to do some exercises for the fit police woman when I explained where I'd been when she asked . I'd patently been nowhere near alcohol but it's one more plastic tube dispatched out of her kit to keep the superiors sweet. They have targets to meet. Didn't ask for any ID, insurance docs, license etc either.
