Kaboul only cost a million less than the Lombaert deal was for so there's 1 million saved. Fer was a loan, Ola was a loan. The fees of the two haven't been reviled.
It's the entire first team squad though mate, we know some lack the ability but they shouldn't have gone to Leicester 30% behind them fitness wise, and we did. Norwich too, are they **** a better side than us, but they were far fitter and a bit of pace ruined us, coming back for the start of the season and getting the fitness training wrong is absolute schoolboy, Dick bemoaned the lack of quality but he was given some diamonds. The reason we have been so poor is teams were fitter and by the time we have started to catch up, confidence is lowered. Hopefully a new manager means we are lifted, we could take 6 from next 2 and suddenly we are happy. Even 4 would be a massive boost.
Maybe there's money there to be spent? May the reason is entirely based on wage bill. We failed in shifting so many players
I wonder if I`m thinking about this the wrong way round. We didn`t shift the players. We tried to sign but they failed medicals. Maybe we were panicked into renewing contracts or we`d have been seriously down in numbers. Don`t know about Catts and Larsson but I can`t see O`Shea & Brown being expensive. Just a thought. Trying to excuse him really I suppose.
Absolutely. Must admit to a little bit of concern he`s not getting the his assistant in though. We`ve seen what happened in the past. I wonder if Short realises that not only do we need the right team of players, we also need the right team of managers. Not sure that`s sunk in tbh.
My take on it. Big same States he's impressed by shorts ambition = he's paying me a fortune and no matter what happens I'll be loaded. Short will be drawing a wage from Sunderland and it won't be a small wage. Any debts he incurs he can hand back to the club at any time. He makes money through his wage. Yes I'm very cynical at the moment. Reviewing wether I waste my precious time watching rich people who don't care kick a ball about. I'd rather we played local lads with some affinity to the club that this foreign mercenaries. what is Sunderland football club, why should I care. It's not the game I used to love, maybe it was just that I was young and foolish.
Because it`s Sunderland football club mate. We can`t help it. Short`s a billionaire business man, they don`t take kindly to failure. I think he wants to succeed but I don`t think he has a clue how to do it. Hence, he`s cautious. He`s looking at it as a business (possibly because it`s all he knows) instead of looking at it as an adventure. Dunno really mate, I just get these daft ideas.
2 signings we are missing are a left back and a quality cb - someone who can lead the line and organise the defence like O'Shea does but who can defend properly as well.
Against WHU if our defensive weaknesses had'nt surfaced we could have had a big win - Borini missed a could of good chances before they (oops - we let them ) score. Many people in media don't rate our team - we have some good skillful players & some weak links - names well known. I really believe SA will sort out defence and we could do very well. Thoughts... if he keeps us up SA - Manager of the Season ?????
I know what his ambitions are as someone I work with is a friend of his and has told me. He wants to build a successful business, success in football is needed to do that. Mid table and stability is the first step to help build the brand, increase the income from advertising and sponsorship. The business side and the football side go hand in hand. He has done well to use the stadium for other things like concerts on the summer. Short is looking at the overall business not just the football side, although that is the most important thing when it comes to building the rest of the business.
My trouble - eternal optimist - not realistic at times - still I could be a lot worse - Today's game - we are just not clinical - still we are on the new manager sequence - beat the dark ones on Sunday now - oops optimism PS Pants is a poor Premier keeper - horrendous distribution and now well dodgy handling
To have big pop groups playing at the SOL hehe, worst owner/director in our history with the money he/the club has had.
