Those continental sides that I've already pointed out follow exactly the same pattern?
Dortmund spend the second most and generally finish second. Atletico spend the third most and finish third.

Stability and consistency are great and will get you to a certain point, but money's the biggest factor.
You can't maintain the former without the latter, as richer clubs buy your best players and take your manager.
Swansea have done well to develop a club ethos and stick to it, but they still suffer from this.

It's quite funny that your key to doing well is winning more games, though.
I wish we'd worked that out sooner! <laugh>

What's funny is that you fail to read what someone else is saying bcos you're so blinkered by your own excuses <laugh>

The fact you dropped points to Sunderland, West Ham, West Brom, Newcastle, Villa, Leicester, Palace among others and picked up zero points against Stoke or Liverpool has nothing to do with the wages of City, Chelsea or United <laugh> Ofcourse all teams drop points but there's no excuse for you to be dropping as many points as you did against those sides. Clubs you should be beating. No disrespect but that is where your reasoning/excuses define a small club mentality.

  3. Games are averaged over a season, Treble. Different systems, fatigue from Europa ties, injuries, incompetent refs, etc, etc...all of these factors play a part; but it all evens out over a season. It is a pointless exercise looking at individual games, which is why no one is laughing too hard at United getting humiliated by Arsenal.

True HIAG but the points difference between Spurs getting 5th and getting 4th is a couple of wins against those sides. Fine margins?

Anyway something far more entertaining and relevant to this thread...

Klopp is only the second German premier league manager. The only previous German coach was Felix Magath, who also won more than Klopp in Germany. And did a cracking job for Fulham when he arrived. Just like Klopp will do at Liverpool

People are looking for any excuse to knock what everyone in the world of football, fan to professional thought was an excellent manager now that he's signed with us.
Wait a while perhaps he'll give you an excuse to knock him other than looking like an idiot knocking him at the moment.

Just redressing the hysteria mate. It's ok to use his stats (as many Livpl fans are) to support why he'll be a success at Livpl, but it's not ok to counter those stats? BTW fwiw I'm not saying he'll fail, or that he isn't a good appointment. But Livpl fans can't keep talking about his German league titles and not expect others to point out he's not the only one. I bet if Felix Magath had been a massive success in the Prem following his success in Germany, Livpl fans would be throwing that out there as well.

This is an utterly ridiculous argument. It's possibly the worst one I've ever read on here and that's saying something.
Just win all of your games against supposedly lesser opposition and it doesn't matter what everyone else spends then?

Chelsea won the title and they still lost to Newcastle and West Brom.
City lost to Stoke and Burnley, amongst others. Arsenal lost home and away to Swansea. Man Utd got battered by MK Dons.
It's the sort of analysis that I'd expect from Michael Owen. Utter nonsense.

To be fair... You're usually the third placed club from your city behind Chelsea and Arsenal. (ever since Roman Era)

If we look at third biggest club on Merseyside behind Liverpool and Tranmere it is Everton.

Everton is a small club so Spurs must be too. :bandit:

I know... Waste of money right. :bandit:

They could have built a 50ft tall statue of Derek Asamoah instead.
