I take the opposite view - thank God we are attracting more fans who are a bit more representative of the national demographic as a whole, as opposed to the motley collection of nose pickers, train spotters and comb overs who have bedevilled us for years.

How I laughed at the prurient, hand wringing reaction last season when 100 or so members of the Red Division (?) barged their way down to pitch side at Watford...and started behaving shock/ horror like fans of other clubs do.

Our middle aged, pompous Kagool clad nucleus are an embarrassment.

We lost a whole generation of proper football fans when we left for Selhurst and it is good to see nature now taking its course.

I will be at Reading on Saturday and if we lose I want to hear bile and vitriol directed against the owners....rather than the sound of Bovril being slurped from a flask.

Vol, I'll see you down the front, eh? As the fifth goal flies in...

I will be at the U18 game on Saturday, I can't bring myself to spend good money watching our motley crew produce an embarrassing performance, yet again. The last team that we won away was at Blackpool last season, let us be fair, Welling United could have beaten them.
Fair play to all the fans who travel away, you must all be certifiable.

I was going to go, but then I've been there a couple of times before, and fancy doing something else.

I'm thinking of visiting a castle, making a bit more usage out of my English Heritage Membership.

Perfect. I'm your man for EH properties.

Start at Pevensey Castle, East Sussex. Roman walls. Norman conquest. Middle Ages.
Up the coast to Hastings and then inland to Battle Abbey. They've now opened some additional rooms in the gatehouse.
Walmer Castle. See where Wellington lived and died. His actual deathbed and favourite boots are on show.
Deal Castle for a Tudor sea defence.
Dover Castle. Henry II's keep. Underground WW2 barracks and hospital. For me, England's finest castle.
    Richborough Fort and Amphitheatre.
    Reculver Towers. Stunning at dusk.
    Home.

You may need a weekend, though.

You are right about Dover, its beautiful. My favourite English castle is Caernarfon. I'm cheating a bit since it is in Wales but it was built by an English King!

    Longshanks. My ultimate historical hero.

Conwy is also a wonder. But do you know of Dolbadarn? It sits in the shadow of Snowden, forbidding yet serene.

Caerlaverock in Dumfrieshire is another gem.

    Bloody love castles.

No I don't, I intend to go to Wales sometime soon and visit as many as I can, I'll have to add them to the list!

I think I'm the sort of trainspotter that Royston was talking about...

Then do not forget Harlech, Rhuddlan, Denbigh, and Anglesey's Beaumaris. Such wonders!

That is quite the list. I'm actually going to do that. When places close I'll drive home, then pick up on Sunday where I left off.

Really not that hard to get to these places from Eltham.

Talking of historical relics, I see the Cardigan Clad buffoon has unilaterally declared that the "Charlton Museum" - in reality an unused broom cupboard at the Valley, is now £5 on entrance, or £20 a year membership, or £250 for life membership. I thought the whole idea was that it was free and accessible ?

Proof once again of what happens when you give stupid people a bit of power.

We could start with the Eaton boys of Cameron and Osbourne <ok>

No..... you'd have to start with our beloved Mayor ..... Boris <ok> what pride the country could have in it's political leaders of Boris with the Tories and Corbyn at Labour!

I liked George Osbourne's "Power stance", legs splayed, pigeon-toed, at the Conservative conference. He's clearly been watching Jack Black in School of Rock.

Things are rarely free or accessible in life.

When you say "cardigan crew" there must be a big distinguished between the Primark ones and the Jack Wills.

Seen that picture. Looks like he's a character in a low budget mortal kombat game.
