Neil Warnock makes comment about Adel Taarabt's training at QPR Olly Dawes @OllyDawes 8 hours ago Neil Warnock has joked about Adel Taarabt's training attitude. View image | gettyimages.com Neil Warnock has told Sky Sports that his former QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt was the worst player he has coached in training. Warnock, 66, has had a 35-year managerial career, and one of his greatest successes in recent times came when he took Queens Park Rangers to the Premier League in 2011. Warnock's Rangers side coasted to the Championship title with 88 points, racking up 24 wins and losing just six as Warnock's team dominated the division. The key player that year was, without question, Adel Taarabt. The former Spurs playmaker smashed 19 goals from midfield under Warnock, as the Moroccan international became the focal point of the QPR side, dazzling defences with his remarkable skill and technique. telling Sky Sports[/a] that the playmaker was the worst player he coached in terms of training, admitting that Taarabt was not a good trainer - but he loved playing games, hence his success at QPR. "Adel Taarabt didn't like training," said Warnock. "But we made sure that he enjoyed the games, and that's why we had a fabulous year at QPR with him, getting us promotion - but not a good trainer!" he added. It's a shame that Taarabt's QPR career went from firing the club to the Premier League to leaving on a free transfer - but with long-running question marks over his application and work rate, it's no surprise to hear Warnock's comments about what Taarabt was like in training - and at 26, it's unclear whether Taarabt will ever change his ways.
It's shocking what Adel got away with Warnock (all in his book) but wouldn't have had it any other way ,because the way Warnock handled it Adel got us promotion #fact
Benfica preparing to sell him in January. Good luck with that. What a twat, but he was never meant to be a professional footballer, the opportunity was wasted on him. There are thousand of people out there who have or had the talent but have never had the opportunity. As Brendan Foster said when congratulated on being best in the world "I'm not even the best in Gateshead, there are people who have the potential to be much faster, but we'll never know".
Probably just best to be happy that we saw his one great season and a few other flashes of genius and try to forget the rest. I'm still glad I had the chance to be hugely entertained by him.
I still haven't seen a player like him He gave us wonderful entertainment I hope he finds a club where he does well. NW well again that is just about him and credit for handling Taarabt for us Sad thing is if he goes onto any football pitch into any game 9/10 he will influence that game ... Not many players that can do that Always like to think that he will come back to us one day I would take him back in Jan on loan
Saw him ss a young lad come on for Spurs at West Ham back in 2007 I think it was, on the TV here the other night, before he came to us. Spurs were 3- 2 down deep into the 2nd half when he came on. He made a run through Hammers defense into their box, got pulled down, Spurs scored from the pen, and went onto win 4-3. He made a couple of other good runs but didn't for the 4-3 winner which a colleague did make. He changed that game way back then.
While all true, I can't help but think his antics may well have been part of the very unhappy camp that we've had for the last few years. It's just my opinion but his getting away with being lazy may well have got other peoples backs up and was very divisive to squad harmony. I don't think he was the only one that accusation could be leveled at though.
I would not have the guy back. He just doesn't seem to have it in him to knuckle down to hard work. A great shame, but we can't afford to have a tubby prima donna ducking training or rolling up late, it's bad for team morale
Here's a thing Most pro footballers work and train hard , say the right things say the wrong things ( Barton) chase balls into the crowd (Mackie) Work rate etc like our performance against Fulham But they still lose A natural talent gives you chance from nothing and changes games Football IMO is nothing to do with bollocks like 110% or formulas and team plans ... Leave that rubbish to the pundits or the writers Taarabt is what a modern day George Best character IMO He is the player in your pub team who 5 minutes before KO is still eating a meat pie, smoking a *** on a fruit machine. He turns up puts on what kit is left and goes straight into character and is the best player on the pitch and you win 13-7 having been 5-0 nil down Anyone get it ? anyone played in a team like that ? The best players of all time IMO are the ones that don't give a **** I am willing to bet that if Taarabt returned to LR even playing against us the place would rock Taarabt does things with a football that is equal to Ronaldino His vision in the game is right up there also He is not wasted because he doesn't comply with the model footballer Good for him I say Everyone happy with our current flair football? Taarabt is simply a genius People who resort to linking kebabs and body fat or pure laziness or that he is even thick will never truly enjoy football IMO Zidane was the best I have seen and is my hero for getting sent off in the biggest game in World football Maradonna took large amount of drugs and beat England on his own with a brilliant goal with his hand If you want a team of linekars or Gerards good for you I want to see proper players
One player a team doth not make! It's a team sport! Not a team player! Let him fall into the obscurity his attitude deserves.
