Think it's a good thing. Less litter and all that. I bring my bags to the supermarket now. True story

    <laugh> quality!

I remember working in a certain god forsaken hell hole which charged for bags before this 5p standard thing came out. One day I had a woman who brought the entire shop to a standstill because when I offered her a bag at the given price, she ignored me, and then when I presented her with her one bought item and the receipt, she decided she needed a bag. I told her the price again, and she genuinely gasped... She complained she was unaware of the pricing structure, to which I pointed out I had indeed informed her and met no response. She then said "well I'm not leaving til I get one for free..."

In hindsight, I shouldn't have said if she wanted something for free, hearing aids on the NHS would be a better bet.

I work in retail and personally have had no real issues with customers since the 5p charge came in. It was in the news so people had fair warning it was coming. Most people bring their own bags now so it's working. To be honest anyone who has issue enough to be pissing and moaning about it need to get a grip. It's 5p, not exactly going to break the bank, and being a retail worker I'm paid **** myself and have no problem with it. If some people hadn't taken bags when they didn't really need one the charge probably would never have come in.

I like the people who argue they are paying to advertise the store... So are you paying to advertise Nike when you wear their shoes? Coka Cola when you drink their fizzy pop? Why only complain about the bag then ****wits? <laugh><laugh><laugh>

I'm good with it. I only end up with a kitchen cupboard full of plastic bags and some gross half disintegrated ones at the bottom. This is the kick up the bum I need to sort my life out.

This. I charge Pizza Hutt for delivery because their journey to my house with their branded moped (OK branded truck) is one big advertisement. And when I say big, I mean 24/7 advertising. <ok>

Can't they just educate turtles? It's never going to work educating supermarket customers.

Another thing that seems lost in all this is that its probably great if you're a jellyfish having a few plastic bags around you.

Only because buying a carrier to put them in effectively doubles the cost of your trousers.

Life's too short just buy some heavy duty bags and take them with you, preferably wearing trousers as well unless you're in Fenwicks.

People will try and put more items into one bag. The trouble is that the bags will split and the shopping will end up everywhere.
Maybe they should start charging for glasses in pubs so everyone walks round with a glass on them.

Take your Sports direct bags. More advertising for Ashley.

You know it makes sense. You all shop there anyway.

The smell of your kippers maybe slightly tainted.

If i buy 3 loaves of cheap bread the 5p tax is like a 5 percent price increase.

It goes to charity apprently but I bet the government droptheir charity donations as an offset.

Bread usually is already in a bag unless you buy Warburtons like me.

    Bastard typical

Old people have been throated again because they always want their eggs in a separate bag.
