John O'Shea has been injured in his first game for Sunderland - the newly appointed 'black cats' captain will now fly home for treatment and miss the rest of the pre-season tour... <laugh>

You've got to admire Sir Alex Ferguson - offloading the crocks for good money!

What a man!

Hadnt realised they had made him their captain too, is that a permanent decision? If so, surely thats pretty disrespectful to the rest of the first team players who have actually played for SAFC already....

Whilst mildly amusing I hope this doesn't become the kiss of death for us .. hope you had all fingers crossed, your lucky heather in your button hole, your rabbits foot keyring, haven't walked under any ladders, were touching wood and haven't seen any black cats (excuse the pun) before you posted this <ok>

As I said before, there's always a reason why Sir Alex Ferguson sells his players. He would never sell a player for such a low fee without a good reason.

It could be the first of many injuries when it comes to O'Shea and Brown. Brown especially.

I mentioned this on the Sunderland board a few days ago, and it was about how they all 'know' that he will be a star.

I got told a story on Friday at Darlo, and someone said when Keegan joined NUFC in 83, he was playing the ball into spaces where no player was, but should have been. Everyone knew Keegan was a cracking player, but when surrounded by **** players, Keegan looked like a mug.

O'Shea may well be a good player, but when his right hand side partner is Seb Larsson and defensive partners with Bramble, hes going to look **** as well.

I was similarly surprised to see Roger Johnson already wearing the armband for Wolves in their first friendly

Just a side note, but Cattermole is their captain. Not O'Shea.

I wish people would stop making articles that are inevitably going to come back and bite us on the arse. Ben Arfa and Demba Ba are going to get injured in a horrific tandem bike accident next, just you watch!

I thought Brucey had given the captaincy to O Shea, which was what sparked the rumour of Clattermole to Liverpool (unlikely as that is)

about those injuries.....
from nufc

2011/12:
It starts

Post-match confirmation came on Friday night that both Danny Guthrie and Shane Ferguson picked up injuries in United's opening pre-season friendly and won't be in the party that flies out to the USA on Sunday.

Alan Pardew commented:

"They both don't look good. One's gone for an X-ray – Fergie – and the other, Danny, has picked up an injury that we think he's had before. That could be him out for between six to eight weeks.”
