Although Cosby did not target girls as young as Saville the comparison is still there in that he used his position, power and powerful friends to keep his activities secret and enable him to carry on over a long period.

So is Tom Watson on a witch hunt? Or is the right wing on a witch hunt of him? Considering the number of *****philes being outed in all walks of public and entertainment life, isnt Watson right to have allegations against previous politicians investigated?

 

He is in some respects, but he should go for them whatever the political party. He refused to back the calls for Janner to be prosecuted, who clearly has a lot of questions to answer and is trying every trick in the book to avoid court. There again Janner is a member of the Labour party.

The problem I have with Watson is he hides behind Parliamentary Privilege to spread baseless lies and rumours. The two people whose "evidence", and I use that word in its loosest sense, he revealed in Parliament have since turned out to be very dubious indeed.

One is a very left wing activist and discredited social worker who has stated "all Tories should burn", and basically came up with a list of famous people he thought were ****s, without any supporting evidence, surprisingly all were Tory MP's or "Toffs" as he calls them. The other person who alleged they had been abused by a group of MP's now says it was a pack of lies and it was done for a "laugh".

One of the worst parts of all this is that Leon Britain, whether you like him as a person or his politics, died without knowing he had been cleared as the Police had no evidence.

Watson even had the case against him reopened based upon the crap he was spouting.

The other aspect that should be borne in mind is where was Watson when the Rochdale cover up was going on, don't remember him trying to stop the definite abuse that was going on, but then that was a Labour heartland with Labour MP's and a Labour run council who were so PC they did not want to upset anyone, especially if they were members of a minority. So they let the abuse of children go on and even applied pressure to silence any that spoke out, or asked for help.

Watson is a nasty piece of work and the worst type of politician who picks and chooses his causes to support his own ideology, a true Animal Farm politician

 

I appreciate the information. I'm seeing a lot of coincidences with what happens in schools. You come up against someone who wants to fck you, the easiest thing is to turn an inoccuous incident into a full blown safeguarding investigation. The worst thing is, these are always secretive and hush hush, and often only depend on hearsay and one person's word over another. The fact that nobody is allowed to discuss individual cases means that you literally have no idea who, and how many, are under the "witch hunt" unless they disclose it to their friends as a few have to me. Usually after they've been exhonerated for doing nothing wrong, or received a warning for doing fck all wrong.

 

Anyone who deals with the public in their role is now vulnerable to allegations of something, particulally those working in roles where the "customers" do not always like or want that service eg police, teachers, security, social services. I have been accused of stuff a couple of times over the years although thankfully never any sexual issues. I have been able to easily defend my actions is the past but have seen colleagues who have found it far more difficult and the effect on those can be pretty traumatic even though it is just based on hearsay and rumour.

 

I can understand it's important to root out any form of inappropriate behaviour but it's also open to abuse. I've seen teachers give up as a result. Not being sexist but "holier than thou" women in positions of power are the worst at taking things too far and wrecking well-intentioned ppl's integrity.
