My parents were from Witton park if anyone knows the place. I don't care whether you believe me or not but up there there are places called The baltic Phoenix Row and also a little block of houses called California maybe Sugar ray was from that area.
THis blokes not famous but I just thought I'd relate the story and some of you might be interested. I'm working out here in Australia at the moment with this Maouri guy, covered in tribal tattoo's, looks very threatening but a great bloke to work with, anyway when I first met him he heard me talking and immediately asked where I was from, when I told him he said " my old man comes from there, somewhere called Hendon and he also lived somewhere called Millfield," apparently he jumped ship years ago and married a full blood maouri girl in Kiwi. What a small world, I told him I was also born in Hendon and lived a while in Millfield, but I didn't recognise the name. His father has never ever returned to Sunderland because he still hasn't emigrated to Kiwi legally yet and he thinks they won't let him back in, but the lad says he still looks for the Sunderland score first every week on the sports channel. Small world indeed.
Tamsin Archer, who topped the charts in the early 90s with Sleeping Satellite, is a season ticket holder for us. Although she is from Bradford ( I think ), her hubby is one of us.
