I did my conkers when Minding beat Ballydoyle in the Moyglare and really thought i'd been done by the tacky ground. Turns out Minding's just a ridiculous freak. What a run.
Minding is a beast, the second is no mug and she destroyed her, these two with Lumiere, Ballydoyle, Illuminate, Besharah, looks the best bunch of 2yo fillies for a long time to me, next season should be much better.
Minding was very impressive winning the Fillies’ Mile and it was interesting that walking in with Emma, Ryan Moore talked about her as a mile and a quarter filly; that is in her pedigree. I will not be rushing to avail myself of the 9/2 about her for the 1000 Guineas because I am wondering whether she needs some juice in the ground to be seen at her best; and if it is quick at Newmarket next May they could skip the race for the Pouliches (at Deauville next year) or the Irish Guineas. With the news that Lumiere is staying with Mark Johnston next season, I would be more tempted by her at 9/1 as a big filly who will hopefully fill out over the winter and progress into a Guineas contender. Moore winning that Newmarket 3:45 on Mustard is very annoying. When I made my preliminary assessment of the race yesterday, he was one of five that made the shortlist. It would have been the selection but I noticed that as well as needing a strongly-run race (which he got) his best form was on quicker ground. So I switched from the winner to a horse that never went a yard in mid-division the whole race, Dawn Missile.
Anybody got the numbers for the National Lottery tomorrow? Now that they have added another ten balls (I think they got them off the England Rugby team), your chances of winning have decreased from 14 million to one to 45 million to one. So you need to buy three times as many tickets to stand as much chance of winning. Presumably the theory behind this is that it will lead to more rollovers that might attract more players, as the fortunes of the Lotto have been dwindling for years as folks have found other forms of gambling with better win odds. Myself I only play the Euromillions on the few occasions a year that the jackpot gets above a hundred million making the rewards commensurate with the odds of winning. Gambling – what a mug’s game...
Well done Drever and Stick Stick - the Hobbs mare did it very well, looks like she will be able to defy the penalty next time out.Given they ran her in that hot Sandown race they clearly think alot of her - what do you think her targets might be this season?
Be interesting to see how the veteran Six of Hearts gets on at Dundalk after going close last week. The old warrior hasn't won since 2011 (around the same time I became a forum member) and he won't get better opportunities than this.Happy enough just to watch this without having a wager. Currently market favourite 9/2.
They want some type for her so will be taking her to the Cheltenham bumper before Christmas, at the Open meeting in November. This was just to put her straight for that!
