Not sure if this is genuine In the house of commons an MP making a speech was constantly being interrupted by an opposition MP. After a while he had had enough and said to his oppo " you have the manners of a pig" The speaker of the house intervened and said you have to retract that comment. Hmmm he thought, then said " I am very sorry my right honourable friend does not have the manners of a pig"
Not really pedantry, but I feel for this lady. She finds a cure for a disease using only natural products, which saved millions of lives, and everybody avoids her birthday party. Come on, let's sing it just for her. Happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear...http://www.theguardian.com/science/...allenge-to-malaria-pioneer-led-to-nobel-prize
One of the funniest quotes of Dennis Skinner was the following: He said: "Half the Tory members opposite are crooks." He was told to withdraw the remark So then he said: "OK, half the Tory members aren’t crooks."
Harold Wilson once said about Harold McMillan after the Tory PM had a cabinet reshuffle: " He's sacked half the cabinet... the wrong half."
Wilson, who was from a comfortable, middle-class background, once gave a speech in the commons in which he gave the impression he had endured poverty, going to,school barefooted. McMillan rose and replied " if the right honourable member really did have to go to,school without any boots I can only think the reason was he was too big for them".
