    2.40 NEWMARKET- BELARDO- 7/1

Has not been able to match the form of his Dewhurst win this time last year but this looks a lot easier assignment than his last few up against the likes of Muhuraar , 4th to gleneagles in the Irish guineas then a couple of disappointing performances at Goodwood when up against Solow them at Deauville. A drop back to 6f was tried when Twiligiht Son won but this trip looks his optimum trip and with conditions to suit and add in the fact 3yr olds have been doing very well against their elders 7/1 looks a huge price to get him back in to form

ZEBSTAR 14/1 Nkt 1.35 has been very highly tried of late and the trainer obviously thinks a lot of this one. Looks worth an ew punt at a nice price.

COPPER KAY Evs in the Newton Abbot bumper is as near to buying money as I can imagine, doubling up with SIMON SQUIRREL in the opener at 2's.

    My Newmarket selections
    1.35 shadow hunter
    2.05 tutu Nauru
    2.40 belrado
    3.10 beautiful morning
    3.45 dawn missile
    4.15 bossa nova
    4.45 rive gauche
Just a brief note on my betting strategy.
I find it hard to find winners, but often get places but am put off of place returns in stakes races on course.
Should I back ew and and lower my stakes, or stick to my guns and carry on as I am. It's only fun for me so expect to loose all my money, I don't have any accounts and don't bet online or use exchanges. When the big price winner comes along it justify such my strategy but often with big gaps in between.

Best to way to do it Florida a saying I have heard and said on here before we bet not to win money but we bet to place the next one so in other terms for fun! Stick to your guns do what your doing and if u really fancy a big price runner back it the same as a short price don't let the price put you off!

I hope you are right about Belardo Wooly as I have just backed him against my better judgement. I always try and work out what I do well when it comes to punting and what my weaknesses are and one big weakness I have is that if I witness a particularly taking performance by a horse that performance occupies too great a place in my judgement for too long in as much as I will give that older performance too much weight over more recent poorer runs, due to the earlier impression being so taking. Step forward Belardo. I have justified my bet by suggesting I am not doing this and am selecting it due to conditions being suitable as the class is appropriate as well as the course and going - but I really fear I am backing him on his big run last season still which was really too long ago now to be doing so.

Minding looks a great bet today, won the moyglare last time out when travelling all over Ballydoyle. Form couldn't be any stronger and the horse seems to not have been handed the credit she deserves for that win

paul townend comes over for a couple of rebecca's horses today --Going for Broke in the opener , against your squrrel stick- but i think mainly for Irish Cavalier in the intermediate chase, a small but select field where any could win and it wouldnt suprise , but i expect and hope its Curtis's horse that passes the line first !
bluesky-you have totally summed up my dilemma --Belardo at his best will win --but was that run last year 'it' --i shall pay to find out ....
Over at York -Roudee 10/1 for Dascombe and co seems to have an excellent chance , a big field, but he was fancied i a better race at haydock last time , didnt get the best of runs, has ideal conditions today.....

He has been running against some top horse his first run was against Muhaarar then in the Irish guineas , then at Goodwood then at Deauville some top G1 horses in those races. The race lto you can put a pencil through the 6f was IMO bit of a lets see what happens! his 4th in the Irish guineas was as I said his best form all season, then at goodwood the ground was rattling quick for him like his first run an Deauville tbh I have no idea really idea what happend the very soft ground over 8f may have been too much but this distance this ground everything suits him down to a T, he may be horse that needs the optimum conditions which today he has and a lot of his runs you can make actual excuses for him and he is the class horse in the race so all he needs to do is repeat his Irish guineas run and he will be bang there

Part one of the badly-timed Future Champions’ Festival has been morphed into a Ladies’ Day at Newmarket.

Certainly, Quiet Reflection looks like the form pick in the opening Cornwallis Stakes following her thrashing of Field Of Vision in an Ayr Listed race; but I would not be interested at a short price. Teresar won on the Kempton polytrack last time and cannot be assessed and easy Sandown maiden winner Southern Belle could be of interest. Whilst we know that Zebstar has a reputation at home, he has not done much to warrant it in his last two races, so this is just one to watch.

The Oh So Sharp Stakes (2:05) looks much more like an end-of-season juvenile race with Aljuljalah, First Victory, Queen’s Trust and Robanne lining up with just debut victories to their names and any of the former three could well be the winner, which might be indicated by the market. Drifting Spirit has progressed in her last three races including a course and distance latest win but will surely find some of the more unexposed types too good. Alamode has not been seen since losing her maiden tag at the second attempt in July and steps up to seven furlongs whilst The Queen’s Diploma got off the mark over seven in August and has to be respected. Arguably the form pick is May Hill fifth Gypsy Eyes, dropping down a furlong.

The Challenge Stakes at 2:40 contains quite a few of the usual sprint suspects that throw their hat into the ring such as Ascription, Breton Rock, Cable Bay and Coulsty. Old rivals Here Comes When and So Beloved also meet again, the latter having won when they last met and the former was favourite. There are two three-year-olds in the race: last year’s Dewhurst winner Belardo, who has disappointed this year, and the consistent MARKAZ, remote runner-up to Limato at Doncaster but the day’s best bet to put the veterans in their place here for a trainer who has won this six times.

The Old Rowley Cup (3:45) has attracted a strong field with three chasing hat-tricks and three other last-time-out winners. Wonder Laish and Duretto dead-heated at Ascot and re-oppose on the same terms, the former having been caught on the line! Argus has not been seen since July and steps up two furlongs here whilst Dawn Missile was touched off over two furlongs further last time. Hopefully Mark Johnston’s Kiltara will set off to try and make all (as he did last time) as a strong pace is definitely what The Queen’s horse Mustard needs to help him settle having finally opened his 2015 account at Haydock in August. The quandary here is which of the two Haggas candidates to side with as neither of them has ever been out of the frame but the vote goes to DAWN MISSILE.

Morning, crew. I did pick a couple out that I liked at Newmarket today but think the prices offered re both are woefully. For that reason I’m displaying the ‘no bet’ banner at the moment.

I see that the forum’s 138th favourite horse, old boy Nigel, just fell short once again yesterday evening. Beaten a neck! It looks like his next destination is not the racecourse but the ‘Horses In Training Sale’ at Tatts in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see who buys him.

    Good luck all.

Zebstar really didn't look like he coped with the infamous Newmarket dip, surprising for a horse who has won at the track previously!
