Coutinho was gone 100% under Rodgers. I still think it's likely, but maybe Klopp can change things, bring in some actual good players and make him want to stay.
I actually agree with you. He's fantastic for five minutes a match and annonymous for most of the rest... ... Unless we're dominating and then he does well the whole time. The thing is. Those 5 minutes of brilliance have earned us points on their own. No doubt he's our best player at the moment (because of those 5 mins brilliance a game) - I wouldn't want to lose him; however for a large fee with a more competent manager in charge of transfers it wouldn't be the end of the world. Nowhere near the loss losing Suarez was, for example.
I think it's a reasonable goal. Shouldn't be expected but certainly possible to get 4th: even finish above Chelsea. The way this season is going we might even win the league (although I highly doubt it and certainly don't expect it). This is another of those silly seasons where big teams are tumbling and not performing. Its an ideal season to break back into top 4. I think with other big clubs being weak, 4th is a feasible and realistic goal. I won't yell "Klopp out" if we get 5th or 6th but I do think 4th is feasible if Klopp hits the ground running. Not because we have a bulletproof squad but because at least one of the expected 4 will continue to tumble.
Coutinho is quality and it's painfully evident that we lose all creativity if he's marked out of the game. Even then, he'll get on the ball and still look leagues ahead of the other attacksrs. Without Sterling and Suarez occupying defenders, more focus is on him.
Great little player who I hope we can keep at Anfield for a long time. Room for improvement but interesting to see how much the new man can get out of him This is a kid worth fighting to keep hold of. Can't help but notice Tobes seems a tad grumpy today I'm sure it's nothing to do with one of Europe's highly regarded managers arriving at Anfield #coincidence
And 4th is most certainly a realistic target. We're only a few points off top 4 combined with the fact that this league is atrocious.
I'm not sure I agree that the whole league is atrocious, but certainly the usual suspects for the top spots are misfiring. City are always on a fairground ride, so no change there. I've no idea what's gone wrong with the Chavs. Some of the middling teams are doing pretty well really. We're certainly within spitting distance of the CL places, and it all depends on whether or not Klopp lands on his feet ok. As long as he gets us playing exciting, entertaining football I'll be happy.
I'd echo Saint's thoughts that I'm not sure it's atrocious. It's just a much more level playing field right now. All the top teams are beatable, every other team (bar maybe Toon and Sunderland) look capable of causing an upset. The idea that top 4 shouldn't be a target is a farcical one, I'm not sure why Tobes is banging on with such tripe to be honest. It's only October It shouldn't be a noose to wrap around the new managers neck if we don't get top 4 but madness to suggest we shouldn't target it because 20% of games have gone
