I haven't been posting as regularly recently, but, I have now been made responsible for Southampton content on 'Yahoo!', which is something I'm looking forward to. Anyway, here's the inevitable plug. Saints must strike a balance or face a winter of discontent https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/saints-must-strike-balance-face-020133875.html I'll keep adding to this thread, as and when Yahoo publish stuff, so as to avoid cluttering the forum or hijacking other threads. DTLW
I do believe I detect a touch of the poetic in your blogging DTLW. It makes for a more interesting read Lines like... Should the management and players fail to do so [win more games than not - TSS], there’s a serious risk of any hopes of a return to the European stage being dead in the water for another season before we’ve even belted out Auld Lang Syne. ...are certainly not the style you were writing 12 months ago. I like it.
Nicely done DTLW. At the mention of 'bedrock' I was half expecting a "Yabadabadoo" Who does the spacing in the article? Almost every new sentence became a new paragraph which I found a little strange.
Nothing earth-shattering. Just looking to highlight the good business and the fact that Saints can say they're keeping hold of players and do just that. Albeit just in January. But still, worth highlighting.
Can't really argue against any of those. Loving the use of 'imperious' and 'Rolls Royce of a defender' when describing Virgil. Slightly disappointed you couldn't get the word 'launch' in there somewhere though Agree with the selections of Shane and Ryan for this season. I've always liked Shane for his work rate rather than his ability as a footballer, however his run in the team over the last three months has helped rescue our season in the absence of any consistent form from Mane and Pelle. Ryan certainly deserves his praise. He was fabulous last season and is proving versatile too this season with great performances at CB. I feel it needs a mention that he also started the season with two knee operations and then hit the ground running within a week of being back training. That is some feat. Good write up DTLW. Maybe a career there for you
