Dwight Yorke says he is ‘amazed’ by the reported lack of interest in the Sunderlandjob. The Black Cats are searching for their sixth boss in just four years and that statistic, coupled with the club’s woeful start to the season, has left potential top-level candidates reluctant to work under Ellis Short at the Stadium of Light. David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and Sean Dyche are some of the names said to have ruled themselves out of contention to succeed Dick Advocaat. But Yorke cannot understand why managers are not queuing up to take over from the Dutchman. “Sunderland is a wonderful club to be a manager at and, if they can get things right there, the support is immense," he told talkSPORT. "I'm a bit stunned [why more managers don't want the job]. The reality is it is a fantastic job and I can't see why managers wouldn't want to take it." Sunderland have yet to win in the Premier League this season and are five points adrift of safety, but Yorke insists they are not a lost cause. "There is enough good players in the dressing room to get them out of that situation. It is a relatively early stage of the season and things can turn around very quickly," he said. "There is a decent squad there and I am just amazed people don't want the job." Read more at http://talksport.com/football/exclu...-fantastic-sunderland-job#FWUe2slFOhw7Pu7w.99
I think there's two reason why nobody would want it. 1. It's a big job, probably the most challenging job in the Premier League at the moment. It's a mammoth task such is our situation. I think a lot available managers know it's too big for their capabilities and just not prestigious enough for somebody who could. Combine it with 2. The poison chalice, the way it's effected managers in the job. A difficult job that could damage reputations and performance stats. I can see why most managers wouldn't be interested.
Depends if a manager is up for a challenge to see if he can turn us around or they just want a cushy easy ride? If I was a manager I would love to have a bash at it despite the failings of previous managers. Only thing is though that would need to be able to do it on your own terms. You would be a god up here if you got us to mid table finish which is still a possibility.
Still think Big Sam is waiting for big money & guarantees!!! Tho having not been considered in the past when he was interested, he may be saying "f u c k em!!" Think it's ideal for Sam!!! IMHO LIKE. Bart
Yep, agree entirely. Something needs to change as this is way past the FEKIN ridiculous. My worry is if JoS sticks his nose into the fray with his ideas, which would only make things much worse, much much worse
Got to be honest can see both sides. Take the job on and fail it,s well he tried but too late! Take the job on and succeed and his profile rockets. I,d like to think we could attract a higher profile experienced guy but not looking likely. Last Sat performance again shows we,re getting it together slowly, so defo something for the next guy to work with
A manager up for a challenge will join us on the magical challenging Mackem rollercoaster - never tedious - all highs and lows - truely memorable
Perhaps I am too close to SAFC. I see a team starting to gell with great attacking ability ready for someone to take the reins. Outsiders see a struggling team effectively bottom of the league and don't want to risk their reputation.
Dyche was apparently lined up in the summer and got dropped like a stone when Dick changed his mind. Understandably now giving us the bum's rush. I am unenthusiastic about Sam and Moyes has not been long at Real Sociedad, so whoopee-doo. I'd try and get Brendan Rogers off the beach and get him back at a club more like Swansea than Liverpool, doing what he does best. I'd also sack Byrne for starters...
Yorke's statement contains more sense and opinion than all the other pundits and journos put together.
