Raheem Sterling claim...

  1. Raheem Sterling surprises Liverpool fans with this claim

Raheem Sterling has claimed his relationship with Liverpool players and officials remained respectful right up to the moment he left for Manchester City in a £49million deal.

The England international had long been linked with a move away from Anfield before eventually sealing a deal with the Citizens. Indeed, Liverpool fans subjected him to boos and jeers in their internal end of season award ceremony in May.

With Sterling refusing to extend his contract with Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers had little choice but to cash in on the former QPR youngster, especially when Manchester City came within a whisker of meeting their £50m asking price.

A media frenzy surrounded the 20-year-old for the best part of six months and interviews with the BBC, coupled with antagonistic comments from his agent Aidy Ward, suggested his relationship with the club had broken down.

However, Sterling claims that he and Rodgers shared an amicable accord despite his clear intentions to quit the club. He praised his former club for making him feel welcome until he left.

    GREAT RELATIONSHIP

He told the Guardian: “When everything was going on and it was in the papers every day, everyone at Liverpool was top-notch. I spoke to the manager every day.

"I spoke to all the players. Everyone outside the club made it out as being something really bad but there was no problem with the manager or the other players. The manager even invited me over to his house to talk. It wasn’t anything like as bad as people made out.”

    CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

It is a revelation that will come as a surprise to the Liverpool fans who read so much about how Sterling's relationship with their manager had broken down in the weeks leading up to his departure.

Regardless of how the players and Rodgers feels about Sterling, the diminutive winger will certainly face a fierce reception from fans when he returns to Anfield in a sky blue shirt in a Premier League clash on March 1 next year.

I trust Sterling's word about as much as I'd trust LVG to play free flowing football when a goal behind <whistle>

It was hilarious when he made his first dibble / got his first assist / scored his first goal and everyone was falling over each other to be the first to make the #predictable "he's justified his price" comment

Now that no one cares about making that joke any more they all see the #reality - he just isn't anywhere near good enough for the wages he's on even if he'd been bought on a free
