I hope the players feel my pain - Cotterill. Manager hurting after last-gasp leveller. Steve Cotterill said he hopes his players feel his pain after City let a first home win of the season slip through their fingers in the dying moments against MK Dons. Jonathan Kodjia’s sixth minute opener had the hosts on their way to maximum points, whilst further chances came and went before the interval. But the Dons were much improved in the second period and substitute Daniel Powell curled in a heartbreaking equaliser four minutes into stoppage time to ensure a share of the spoils between the two promoted sides. “I’ve just said to the players and staff ‘I hope the pain for you on that goal is as much as the pain is for me,” “We stopped passing it, stopped getting on the ball and kept giving it away too cheaply in the second half. “We were turning it over to a good footballing team, and late on we’ve put the subs on and we were fresh enough to stop somebody coming inside. “We should’ve been 3-0 up at half-time, but if we can’t take every chance we have to make sure we keep a clean sheet. “We’ve worked on our defending this week and it was pretty good up until a minute from time when you’ve really got to dig in and make sure you get a block on that shot. “Then all of a sudden we show courage and character to pass the ball and drive forward, trying to score a goal 30 seconds from the end – we needed to do that earlier. “At the moment, that pressure of getting over the line is growing on them. We need that home win to get us up and running here. “It’s a real painful one, but no more than MK Dons deserved.” http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/i-hope-the-players-feel-my-pain-cotterill-2724655.aspx
Even though there are often decades or more between each good bit. I'm so gutted that we've made such a ****ing balls up of this season so far with no sign of it getting better. After the successes of last year the whole club ought to still be on the crest of wave, but instead we're plumbing the depths. It's a sobering thought that we could potentially be in the same division as the Gas next year.
I don't see Preston and MKDons supporters calling for the Manager's head. We are the most fickle fans on the planet. The only thing that has to change is the results.
Is Cotterill trying to blame the players for his tactics of trying to defend a one goal lead for the entire second half? They were clearly following orders, presumably his. Too many holes in the bottom of the boat and it's about time the captain of the boat, SC, sorted it out.
unfortunately, you are spot on, I have said this about City fans for years, they cant keep positive. Just watch IF we went on a 5 game winning streak or more, SC and all things BCFC would be brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!
