exactly. Dealing with the dick-heads from the press is all part of the job these day, sadly, despite everyone knowing 95% of what is written is absolute bullshit, 95 % of it still gets swallowed by the public.

Didn't join in on this last night, having slept on it and up early this morning my thoughts are there is only one man who knows what is going on and that is DA. Will he go, won't he go we are all guessing, when Dick is ready he will let us know, if he stays then brilliant for me, if he goes then I will be truly sorry, same goes for Congerton, hope he stays as well. We all know these guys come and go and it is the fans who are left to carry on regardless. Do I want Nigel Pearson here NO.It's a wait and see situation, the media are only filling inches on paper after all ,they won't change.

The worry for me is the two frontrunners IF Dick actually walks. Both Dyce and Pearson will take our club back years. for me the only guy we should talk to in the situation we are in is Big Sam, ugly football, but effective.

I watched his interview yesterday and to be honest it smacked of a man totally fed up with goings on in the back ground, and my fear is that he is off. I really want Dick to stay at Sunderland, because I think we will come good, but we really need a footballing brain in at the exec level and not some business person that's Shorts job.

As for the next candidates no to Dyche and Pearson! If anyone had to come in, I too would begrudgingly would have Big Sam but at a last resort.

    BIG SAM for me!!!

A perfect fit for us at the minute - and an ex player to boot!!!

Have wanted him here for a while.

    Bart

PS - if Pearson or Dyche gets it, that's it for me till ES f u c k s off!

He says he's made a decision. Surely if it's to stay, you come out and say so an end the uncertainty. Settle the players, settle the fans, the whole club.

Easiest thing in the world would have been for DA to say at the post match press conference, that he has a contract and will be here to the end of the season. But he didn't, all he did was add fuel to the fire about his departure. As a Sunderland fan, I only want people here who want to be here. If he goes, its a shame, but we move on. As someone on here said, its really only us the fans that have a life sentence supporting our club, others come and go...DA is no different. IMO, he will go, he looks a beaten man to me.

Apparently he's on a 9 am flight back to your neck of the woods this morning smithy. Hope that's just for the International break
.Rumours at this end, and that's all they are rumours, state there will be an announcement from the club today. If there is an announcement I cannot see that being about Congerton.
We will just have to see if it's true or more crap from the media.
It's set up for big Sam with Congers gone imo.

This is exactly as I see it and I hope we are right. The team are slowly begining to gel and DA is taking the pressure off the players by toying with the press, as Funk rightly says he has done this all along and the look on his face when we went two up was priceless, just wait till he has his first victory, it must be just round the corner imo. Keep DA and Congers until the end of the season Mr Short, spend some money wisely and we should be be fine. We have lost the first quarter of the season it is all too play for onwards and upwards.

I'm not listening to what's going on, I'm watching Dick's actions. He had tears in his eyes when Lens scored and at the final whistle.

If he's not leaving the club in the very near future, then the pressure is getting to him to the point where he's showing his emotion and he shouldn't be doing that. It's not the qualities of a good strong leader, which we need more then ever now...

But he did this at the end of last season, he is who he is, and for me, I hope he stays connected to our club in some capacity when he does step down hopefully when at the end of the season we are a still in the premiership and with the team in good shape, thats all I want. <ok>

Agree. He's probably spent 50 years in football, been successful, known on the world stage, yet Sunderland can break him in well under one year ? What is it, the set of players, the club overall, what we don't see in the background, gremlins, or what ?

Is this constant speculation about the managers position good for the team and the club..........NO.
If he's staying he should have said so ..........emphatically.
I like Dick a lot and hope he does stay, but for a man of his vast experience I think he's handled the last few days badly.
As the yanks say. either sh*t or get off the pot.
