Since the demise of BBC606 many football forums have sprung up, most good, some not so good but all offering different slants on football chat. This is just my ramble on why I like not606 and what I believe its all about, just one mans opinion. On first visit to the not606 home page it can be confusing, especially for those of us who can still remember the introduction of the calculator and how confusing they were. You are met with non sporting topics, General Chat, Betting Forum, After Hours. Then a long list including every football team imaginable then every other sport, fear not, a click on the team of choice and you are taken to a friendlier place, your teams home page. Each teams home page may, and do, differ because they are meant to reflect what their fans want. Moderation differs, tolerance and topics differ and IMO there is no right or wrong, just different. I occasionally hear how a particular teams board is wrong, they donât allow this, you are not allowed to say that, they miss the point. When visiting another board I see it like visiting someoneâs home, you may not like their rules but its their house, respect the rules or donât visit. Our board, the Sunderland board is very tolerant, IMO and I think of it like visiting the pub, a cyber pub. some, like me, spend to much time in there and as the day goes on you will often find me the worse for drink so my rambling becomes off topic and rather daft at times. Some drop in and out but all tend to come for a chat, to catch up on gossip, to share some gossip, to have a moan or simple to have a laugh, all with the love of our team being the common bond and thread. Just like in the pub we can cuss and swear but we do have the swear filter option to avoid it. Most things are fair game but we donât like racism, homopobia, bullying or abuse. I sometimes hear about cliques and I can see why a visitor could think that, but they would be wrong, again like in the pub some have bigger gobs than others but all are welcome, I heard that! If you are reading this and thinking, I like to read but never comment, try it, pull up a chair and we will buy you a cyber pint. You know, it may well be that us older members donât want you newbie because its ours and we donât want to share. The truth is however we need and welcome the newbie because without them the board becomes stale and dies.
I seen an example of this, this morning when i logged on, having missed a week, i noticed some new names, and they seemed to be taking some flack, over who or what they may be..wasn't impressed with that. (no-names) We need new-comers and new ideas, different thinking, and there are many options. Many seem to be wrapped up in this rep nonesense, there's an easy solution there. Think people need to be reminded of the ignore button,. use it. If it wasn't for the creator of this forum, who knows where everyone would have gone, for a rant, a ramble, a point of view, and a one stop information stop with people that always have one thing in common. The club. Everyone post is valid, and i for one actually don't mind the stragglers from the other side paying us a visit.
Any footy forum would be **** without the undesirables dropping in, and vice versa. I sometimes go on their board and get involved in the non football/NUFC/SAFC stuff, they actually have some great craic on there.

This is is one of the main reasons holding NOT606 back IMO. Moderation should be the same across the board as it was on BBC606. Mods should have guidelines to work within, though not as stringent as the Beeb obviously. Moderation should only occur if a post is racist, threatening or abusive. Mods should not have the power to remove posts solely because they disagree with a comment. Something which does happen on here. At the minuet each board has a different set of rules which puts me off commenting on another teams board. It's like the police in Sunderland having different laws to Newcastle. Very confusing. I enjoy seeing Newcastle fans on our board. I used to enjoy going on there board, not any more. There rules seem to be if you support Newcastle you can say anything, abuse and all. If you support Sunderland your ****. Maybe if there was more continuity in the moderation across all boards more people would be happy to post there views. After all this is a chat site. One that lives and breathes on many differing comments from as many differing people as possible.
I totally agree with your comments mate. My only other gripe with this site is the REP system the username of the person giving the rep should automatically be shown to see who's left it.
You are starting to sound like our very own Nial Quinn.[/QUOTE] I'm starting a campaign to stop people talking football in pubs, they must on here to chat.
I comment on a number of boards, ll without problem, including Newcastle. I also have no problem with rep, I simply dont read it.
I still think every board should have a unique hazin... tortu... initiation ceremony to teac... indoctri... welcome the new slav...minio... users. On the NUFC board we show them the merits of being a good poster such as Agent Bruce and also the issues that can arise with being an arse such as Tash. We do this through the medium of a 12 hour non-stop display of shadow puppetry set against a recorded loop of pre-50's feminist poetry with quick changing visuals of altering representation's of Satan and Mike Ashley. At first the new arrivals kept getting up to leave so we attached straps to the chair to secure them and eventually solved the dozing off issue by cutting off their eyelids and electrocuting them every 30 seconds. We've of course had a few fatalities but you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs, can you. Things are looking good for the future.

i like overseastoon plan, but not one mention of water boarding, or white noise..but he could be onto something.. or maybe they should write at least fifteen different threads on a certain french winger from wigan, seems to be the in thing at the moment.
I wonder why that is cyprussydsafc, super moderator. For some of us mere mortals commenting on another teams board can be very unpleasant. Unfortunately.
I tend to find its like pubs, go on the Newcastle board to wum is like going into the Strawberry on a match day with your Sunderland shirt on, you will get the **** kicked out of you (and vice versa i have to add). Go on there and be reasonable, and they do give you the time of day (some dont but a lot do) as for rep i have give up on that totally, on the Sunderland board no one uses it, on the toon board you just get bad rep for the most part, but i have probably got more good rep over there, than i have on the Sunderland board. (just because no one reps over here).
