Sorry to be pedaantic but it's "Tai" not "Thai". He was born in Scunthorpe but grew up in Perth, WA before moving back to the UK. His father, Rob, rode for Scunthorpe around the time I used to watch Hull Vikings in the mid-late 70s. Tai will be presented with the Speedway World Championship trophy next Saturday at the final round in Melbourne, which I'm going to. Should be a great event with some exciting racing and a crowd of around 50,000 anticipated.
Well done to Tai Woffinden. 2nd Grand Prix title in 3 years and a double World Champion. Great for British speedway. Sadly Tai has announced today that he wont be riding in british domestic speedway again in 2016. If they had run the Grand Prix system back in Ivan Mauger's day Mauger would have won at least double what he did,,, which was 6.
