My interest is waning, I must say. Not only because England were poor, but almost all of the matches have been fairly dour and attritional. It's like watching wrestling most of the time. The commentators eulogised about Wales v Australia, but there wasn't a single try. Ex pros might get pleasure from seeing a well drilled defence ,but armchair (occasional) viewers want to see expansive play and loads of tries.
There's too long in between the games so the tournament lacks momentum. Also, most of the time it's ****ing boring to watch.
Problem is, it's the WC. Just like football, teams are more scared of losing. When you see forward dominated games, it immediately speaks to you of conservatism - keep it tight, etc. If any of you saw Japan vs South Africa in one of the first games, it was fantastic attacking rugby. Japan just went for it, and eventually won! Possibly a lesson for others, but I somehow doubt many will follow it.
Union is ****. A sport for confused toffs who drink ale put of each others arseholes. League is better but it's still Rugby. At least it's not just 90 minutes of kicking the bal.... ERM, egg into touch.... Duller than cricket.
Like say, good luck, you're gonna need it!. The current boks are not a good side, Oz is a different proposition...
