This is absolute bollocks. He is on £50k a week at Newcastle, our ceiling is £25k a week. Pure trash reporting to keep the masses happy.

This £1.25 million is going a long way!

More chance of Joey Deacon signing for us at the moment though

He seems to have cleaned up his act a bit and become quite a decent player. Despite my previous reference to him as a thug, I think he could be a very useful addition

Plus, he didn't travel with the rest of the squad to the USA, so could be busy doing a deal here. He's out of contract, but I too think wages could be an issue.

He's agreed to accept drastically reduced wages......
If we cover his legal fees.
You're right we can't afford him.
Agree with Northolt though he would be good.

Always was a good player. Still a thug. Ridiculous media spec. Can't afford him etc. etc...

Wouldn't have wanted him in May. Would be delighted if we got him now though!!

To be honest, if Joey Barton got anywhere near our club, I would be disgusted.

This is a guy who did an interview with Radio5Live, a few years ago, saying that he was a changed man, and that all he wanted was a chance to prove himself as a human being and as a proper decent person.

That interview aired on a Monday night, I believe. That very same night, he was involved in the fight that saw him get put inside. The guy is SCUM.

How any of you could contemplate signing this thug, or anyone like him (Marlon King, Lee Hughes, anyone???) is beyond me. Is it just to make a signing?

None of the players mentioned should be allowed anywhere near a football pitch, and should still be doing time.

Before the PC brigade jump on my arse and say "What about the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act?", I say that they should all have got far stiffer sentences.

Give a thug a second chance, and it just gives him a second chance to be a ****.

P.S. That IS just my opinion....Now fight amongst yourselves to tear my argument apart!!!

    U RRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr's!

you're a turd. plain and simple. you know literally nothing about any of the cases or incidents you mention, but saw a bandwagon going past the door and decided to get on board...read the daily mail much? course you do...

why exactly should they never be allowed to play football again? providing they have served their time and their crimes don't affect what happens on the football pitch...oh, because they act as a role model to our children - um...if you children are looking at footballers as role models then you seriously need to look at yourself as a parent...

should point out that i have no feeling towards any of the players mentioned or teams they represent...just that your view is full of gimp...

now, go get yourself a job and stop watching daytime tv...

    Ok...point by point...

#1 During the aforementioned interview (that means "what I said before") Barton said that he was a changed character and was doing his utmost to stay out of trouble....Didn't try very hard did he? Once a thug, always a thug

#2 Good to see some reasoned debate entering the Not606 arena. Name calling went out when I left school. Perhaps I should have a word with your headmaster, so you do not get as much internet access?

#3 Thanks for the advice, but I am too busy at work to watch Jeremy Kyle et al on morning television.

One final point, if I know so little about any of the cases involved, how do I know that Lee Hughes left the scene of a fatal car crash? Or that Joey Barton pushed his cigar into a trainees face? Or the beating up of a teenage Everton fan on a club tour?

Go back to your cave, gruffnuts, and think about what you type.

Not everyone is as poorly educated as you seem to be, or as you wish to make out.

P.S. You may want to discover the "Quote" system, so that you can highlight phrases and make YOUR points stand out from those you wish to decry!

While I think JB is a bit of a thug and has been convicted of beating people up and the like, I would say in his defence that he is no Marlon King or Lee Hughes character... One is a sex offender and the other killed someone and legged it from the scence of the crime!! Barton smacking someone in a club hardly puts him in the Hitler catergory does it.

He is a good player on the park, very good in fact. But wages + signing fee we're just not up to right now so no f-in chance of him coming to W12.

Barton did beat up a kid (Everton fan) and blinded in one eye a team mate. With him on your side you don't need enemies do you??

No nice at all..... Horrible things to do, though the kid wasn't blinded in one eye + has since been put in prison for something or other I read the other month, so that guy was hardly an angel either.

Would I take him? Yeh... But I'd have it in his contract that one **** up and its terminated.

By kid you mean teenage chav and lets be honest pretty much all chavs need a good kicking just for thinking that it is an acceptable way to be

The "blinding the teammate" (Tandy) is just a lie, also was Tandy not trying to set fire to his shirt

I think he will stay and through performances hope fan power forces the clubs hand to offer him a contract, but when has fan power worked on that rabble. I think he will stay and just end up winding down his contract.
