We look a bit lost every time they get the ball out wide and cross it high into the box. Nobody seems to do that in England any more, somewhat bizarrely.
At some point in the next 10-20 years a top team will start playing 4-4-2, 2 wingers, a big man/little man up front and no one'll know how to handle it for a while.
I just don't understand the negativity towards the Europa league. Of course we would all much prefer to be playing champions league but realistically this and the FA cup are our only chances to win a trophy this year. Going by some of the comments on here all we should do is focus on the league and FA cup and forget the rest. Say we got 4th this year and get champions league, yes it allows us to get better players but even so do you really see us winning it or even getting close? If some of our players carry on improving at the level they are now, even with Champions league, if a Barca or Madrid come in its highly likely the player would want to leave and we would sell champions league or not. Why not just enjoy the fact we are playing in a European tournament against some good teams and actually try and get some silverware. And if by some miracle we do win then we get Champions league anyway don't we now? And get in Lamela!
How good was that from Lamela in the build up?! I'm seeing it! I'm seeing it now! I get the point of Lamela!
Qarabag 1-0 Anderlecht. The Baku side aren't as bad as everyone seems to think. Sleepy defending after taking the lead. Poor. Straight up the other end and Kane should score. Then they break and Traore should score. Chaos. Hold the ****ing ball!
We need to be far more awake when they break. Far too easy for wide men to get in behind in acres of space.
Pretty good game so far, very watchable which is not something you can often say for our away group stage games. Not great in terms of our defending and wastefulness in attack at times but it was a good goal and good to see Lamela getting in the goals again.
I think the only way I could have been happier for a player to have a bit of good form would have been Soldado at Spurs. Keep at it Erik!
1-0 HT. That'll do. Played fairly well at times and had most of the game, but they've threatened on the break and that's their plan anyway, so possession's a bit meaningless. Our wingers (or whatever they are) need to be more defensively aware when we lose the ball.
