I believe you Polly, listening on the radio on Sunday you could hear the echos going around the stadium. Lee Richardson is a good analyser, says it as it is, not worried about upsetting anyone. He said straight away the official attendance was miles out.
I read somewhere that the SMC are obligated to buy 500 passes a season! Must really piss AA off that?
Not old enough to remember when FC got gates of 900 against Huyton and Barrow? This was only 4 or 5 seasons before thousands of fans who reckoned they hadn't missed a game for years left for Wembley telling the last to leave to turn off the lights. Or the brief period when Hull Vikings got more than City, FC and Rovers added together?
Hah no! Not even nearly old enough Plus we're not a rugby family so never really had any interest in the ****s. Plus, who cares about the past? It's done and gone. Live for the moment and look to the future, that's how I roll.
I thought they'd only won about four away games in the last four seasons, and at least one of those was in Hull?
How many games do you remember at BP when we attracted 'less then 2,000' ? I can remember one league game v Torquay. One in 50 years. If there were 4 leagues in RL and Fc were at the bottom of the bottom one as long as City were, how big do you think their attendances would be? Add to that 25 years of neglect and underachievement beforehand.
The taxman should assess FC's income based on the figures given out over the public address. That'd teach them.
The north stand is closed next year as the away fans are going in the corner like at football. I never got announcing more than is actually in the ground as more would then go to the SMC. Presume all season tickets holders included even if they aren't in the ground.
I remember it and useful it when bandwagon jumping ****s were going on about how it had always been a rugby league mad city when their best ever period coincided with City's worst and the local media were indulging in their customary rugby league bias.
How come they only finished in eighth position then, four off the bottom, yet still described as a 'good season' in the HDM ?
A slight difference between staying in the Super League and staying in the Premier League though. In fact an enormous difference.
1981,1982, 1992, 1996, 1997 saw some of our lowest attendances, the average attendance for the those seasons were between 3000 and 4000. I'm not disputing that City have had their share bad times nor that if FC had had similar torrid times their attendances would probably be even more shocking.
Basically the only 6,000 gates have been in the 'super 8s' where all season ticket holders have to buy tickets to the games and Hull had absolutely nothing to play for, I'm surprised that many people turned up to be honest. To be averaging 10,000 in the regular season is pretty decent compared to other super league sides especially given the decade or so of mediocrity they've had to endure. Too many false dawns and underachieving big names have started to take their toll on attendances which is understandable but it really does need addressing before it gets worse and they loose fans for good.
I think that little perk for the rugby was kicked into touch World's apart. So much so that to attempt to compare the two is laughable beyond belief.
I'd have thought everyone in every sport can only do their best, whether that be football rugby or even darts. Football is easily the most popular and richest game in the world. But does that make it harder to be 'the best' than any other sport?
You choose your rugby team etc. when i lived in hull it depended on which side of the river you were born who you supported.
