Just listened to Radio Humberside sports desk, think I heard Adam Pearson saying they get smaller crowds than Rovers and can't survive on gates of 6000 ?
I think their average gate has fallen below 10,000 this season, the 6,000 refers to just the last game or two when they've nothing to play for. His interview last night was a rallying call, he's spending some coin on some new players and he was painting a brighter picture for next season, in the hope he might get a few of the lost fans back on board.
LOL. Oh dear what a shame. Maybe the Dullers should try and win some games. It may help improve matters.
What the hell are they losing them to? Simple apathy? I can't see any swapping to KR, or even to one of the successful teams, so what is actually happening to them?
He basically said all their home performances had been **** this season and their only decent performances had been on the road.
Caught the end of the Radio Humberside commentary for that game, Lee Richardson who was the analyser said there was nowhere near the official announced crowd in the ground. Just listened to AP's interview from last night where he says himself there was only a crowd of 6000 but like OLM says he's hoping that the players they are bringing in will improve the results and the crowds.
Unfortunately people in general fickle, if a team does well it gets the crowds. Look at City we have probably lost around 5,000 since been relegated. FC are not as well followed as City so when you start losing people it's maybe a tad more noticeable. As to what FC are losing fans to, well simply folk can't be bothered turning up. Doesn't mean that these people are now supporting Wigan or Leeds or KR, just plain and simple they would rather do something else. Plastics I hear you say, yes maybe. On field success will obviously produce larger crowds.
FC probably have loyal fan base of around 5/6000. What sort of crowds would we get if dropped down another division 10/12000. Sure many of us remember the days at BP with less than 2000 attending some of our games.
Oh don't get me wrong, I'm under no illusions about how fickle our fan base is. 10/12k is optimistic if we dropped down imo. I just though the Hull rugby club lot were different. You choose your rugby team etc.
Whilst they were free, so many children experienced rugby for first time last Sunday and Hull FC will be hoping at least some of those go again. It was great to see the North Stand half filled on Sunday.
There never is. My mate works in the public address office and they do the announcements. She said it's the same laughable scenario every time - someone gives them the actual figure, then they have a semi-serious conversation about how they can increase it, arrive at a number and add another 1573. Seriously!
