If this happens and it really is starting to look a reality? What effect will it have on the Premier League?f
The PL will continue to buy overpriced **** in an attempt to redeem the situation, but ultimately make it worse. For the money we have in our league - why has it suddenly got so ****e?
some of the reason I think is that the lower prem clubs are richer, therefor don't need to sell their best players to the top clubs in our league. On on the other hand the top clubs in all other countries are far wealthier than the rest so can hover up any top talent in their league. Plenty of of other reasons as well but no surprise that as the competition in the prem has got tougher, or cl challenge has got worse... we we were great when we had an established top 4, then city came along and mixed things up (not bad for prem) but teams has to suddenly concentrate on getting that top 4 spot, rather than almost take it for granted
The richest league in the World lose the 4th seat on UEFA's gravy train? lol The British broadcasters have forced up the CL TV rights by 100% in recent years, do you think they're going to accept 1 less Englsih team being part of it? Not a chance imo. There'll be some 're-alignment' of the qualification criteria if we fall behind the Italians in the co-efficients.
I think the English clubs best hope is that the Italian teams are even ****ter than ours are. I can't see any of the English clubs doing well in either the CL or the Europop league.
Maybe UEFA will just ensure that a English club wins the CL or EL each year so we still have four teams regardless
There is the biggest problem! English clubs treat that competition as a joke but other countries don't, it all counts towards the coefficient
As it is, Arsenal are the only one who won't qualify imo. The others will come through, albeit they're likely to do it the hard way.
Not good generating money for Blatter and Platini to embezzle. Put your money where your mouth is Tobes.
I think calling a top three is far harder than a top four. All four of Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Arsenal have bags of cash to spend but who will use it wisest? IMO Arsenal are sleeping giant, they have such a good squad of players that needs one or two tweaks to become truly brilliant but Wenger doesn't seem to want to do it. Man Utd have been throwing money at the problem but haven't been great despite being top. Man City and Chelsea go and spend a fortune almost every year and will probably be most peoples top two.
This, UEFA won't risk cutting off their nose to spite their face, esp. when it comes to the PL Gravy train! Ideals, principles, fair play and all that jazz doesn't run sport, money does!
Will never happen.. but I've always wanted a return to good old fashioned format of just the Champions of Europe Leagues qualifying for the Champions League.. If they ever went down this route, their secondary comp, EL, would end up being bigger "better?" than the main comp...
As an outsider I think it would be interesting if it did drop to 3, with one of the Manchester clubs, Arsenal or Chelsea missing out. Whoever missed out the first year as well would struggle to get back in I think... one of these could fall behind the rest. Does anyone know if our co-efficients did drop below Italys would we lose an EL spot as well?
Oh right, I suppose i should have guessed that with it being on topic and fitting in with the conversation like #sarcasm
It is on topic, as the entire debate is only happening due to a crap showing in weeks 1 and 2 of this seasons CL, it becomes moot if our sides buck up and qualify for the latter stages.
