I agree, I honestly do think it is time for him to go. We are still devoid of attacking ideas and fluency. With the squad we have we should be taking teams like Blackburn, Charlton and Wolves apart. Why has he never brought in someone to help him with the strikers/attacking play, like West Ham did with Teddy Sheringham? We had one of the lowest goal scoring totals of any team promoted when we went into the Premier league. He has spunked millions on strikers who couldn't hit a barn door. Some of the better strikers we have had have become frustrated by the complete lack of service they get from our pedestrian midfield. If you can only score one goal in a game instead of two or three, the opponent scoring in injury time will hurt you, it probably cost us our place in the Premier League last season if you add the points lost in the last five minutes of games, because we couldn't finish them off prior to this period. It is same old same old, it needs freshening up. Mid table mediocrity beckons if things remain the same, due to the fact we will get more draws than wins.
He's got teams up before. If we'd had a bad start I'd more understand the calls for his sacking. Bruce can get it right. You've peaked too soon Mr. Hat.
We have no divine right to beat anyone let alone take them apart. Thats the trouble with some supporters thinking we just have to turn up and beat these teams. This is one tough division and no easy 3 pointers on offer .
That's what we'll be saying in league one. And league two. And the conference. With a playing squad that cost roughly 40x that of the leagues average. Give Bruce time, he'll sort it out. He's only had six and a half years, give him a chance ffs.
I agree, however it would make a pleasant change to see some consistent fluid attacking impetus, with the correct players being played in their best positions. Oh and the team not being clearly instructed to preserve a one goal lead with the blatantly obvious consequences. Including Maloney, probably our only plan B attacker, in the starting eleven for home games would probably be a good idea too, however that appears revolutionary to Steve Bruce and too great a risk. However I appreciate you taking time out of defensive training to post on our forum Steve.
I think this is part of the problem with the current Bruce situation. It's the heart ruling the head because of the FA cup run and gaining promotion. We all live in hope he will somehow pull it together and we will go on a run. However the stats since the final don't back this up and we could be hoping for a long time. Again he got a result at Cardiff to ease the pressure a bit but my feeling is 2 points from 2 home games is just not good enough!!
You are right we have no divine right to beat teams BUT !! WHEN? will we put other teams on the back foot? Iv'e said it before, teams are coming to the KC to confident of getting a result and mostly they take the game to us, putting us on the back foot. First half against Fulham I thought was a sign of things to come. It hasn't happened.
The past is done! People need to realise this, it doesn't matter what he did before because the simple fact is we have been devoid of idea for 18months now. You can say we have no right to expect to beat these teams but I slightly disagree as we are not a typical team who got relegated. Burnley, QPR, Fulham, Blackburn, Wigan got relegated because the teams they had weren't good enough. That's not the case with us as our squad was more then good enough to stay up and should have stayed up if it wasn't for Bruce picking awful tactics, lineups and instructing his team to defend one goal leads instead of finishing teams off. I've said it before but Newcastle were in the same shoes as in they were relegated when realistically there team was better then ours that stayed up. The following year in the championship they wiped the floor with the league as they kept a strong squad like ours and were given free license to attack. Bruce is clearly searching for an answer but I'm afraid he can't see that he's the problem.
We need new ideas, tempo, drive, freedom to play quick fast attacking football, this "teams just park the bus" rubbish isn't true, QPR nor Blackburn did this! we just as a team look like we are being told to play with handcuffs on! at the rate bruce is going we will be the first team to professionally play walking football.
So are we going for promotion or not? The noisea are all very much that we need to get up this year and that's very much the aim. Yet some on here find it unreasonable that we expect to win games. How else will we achieve promotion if not by winning matches?
How many of our team would be playing for us if we didn't have SB as our manager? I'd say Not many! Nearly all of our very good squad play for him not city! We're joint 3rd with 2 away losses! Bruce still in!
