This was always going to be a hard season due to the monies involved. "When the going gets tough.........etc etc"
I said weeks ago that my expectations are for survival and that's all i expect from this season. If we are in the top ten by xmas i would expect our season to be safe for another season and no more. If we can reach a European spot in Feb then we should go all out and try for a place but my expectation will still be a top half finish. Today i don't expect anything other than survival which is more reasonable target than anything atm....We may not even achieve that but its more realistic than finishing in the top half and qualifying for Europe. That sort of expectation is too far away and we will have to wait and see....
It's not a blip. We've got problems and if we don't sort them out rather sharpishly we're going to get ourselves into trouble.
Agree totally with that PGF. We have been woeful for a few games and things need to change asap. Not panic stations yet but I'm concerned at what I'm seeing.
Sound bites are ok if there's a positive reaction from them but the last 3 games have shown either Monk isn't getting his message across to the players, they're not responding or the message is the wrong one , but what ever he needs to see a reaction from the players because yesterday wasn't acceptable and the longer you're in slump the harder it is to get out of it .Spurs next who put City to the sword so he has 7 days to get this sorted out tactically(yesterday the diamond shape caused more problems than they solved ) and with his man management skills because if there is problem in the dressing room then thats a bigger issue but needs dealing with now.
Survival is the first priority but I think most fans would think that just surviving, possibly by the skin of our teeth, would be a huge step backwards for us, and they'd be right.
We never get much out of Spurs either do we? A couple of draws I think since coming up? Time to break that duck! I dont see us finishing with as many points this season but confident we wont get dragged into a relegation scrap
Doesn't take long before people hit the panic button, does it We've only had two bad performances - away at Watford and away at Southampton. The draw at home to Everton was a solid display. The League Cup defeat at Hull (which we should have won comfortably in the first half by all accounts) has soured things. Okay, we're not scoring and certain players are putting in poor performances. I understand the concerns. But let's rewind to last season to remind ourselves of two winless streaks; on both occasions the forum was going into meltdown. 13/09/14 - Chelsea 4 Swansea 2 20/09/14 - Swansea 0 Southampton 1 27/09/14 - Sunderland 0 Swansea 0 04/10/14 - Swansea 2 Newcastle 2 19/10/14 - Stoke 2 Swansea 1 29/12/14 - Liverpool 4 Swansea1 01/01/15 - QPR 1 Swansea 1 10/01/15 - Swansea 1 West Ham 1 17/01/15 - Swansea 0 Chelsea 5 How many points did we end up with? 56. Keep Calm and Carry On, as the saying goes. It will turn itself around, but maybe not next week - Spurs will be another toughie.
We don't have the god given right to win any game so stop going over the top with the doom and gloom stuff. The fact is we have been out played in a couple of games just like we out played Man utd who are top of the league today......but we are half way up the table and comfortable. Teams have stopped us playing our normal game and that is testament to their manager who have done their homework on us and it worked......We will lose a few more i expect just like we will win and draw some and as long as we finish out of the bottom 3 then that's our aim for a satisfactory season and my guess is we will finish a lot higher which will be a V/good season........
Not sure why you've singled out Leon, particularly as there are a ****load of other players that deserve it. In amongst all the misplaced passes, the lack of effort and the lethargy I actually don't think Leon did much wrong. I don't think anyone's pressing any panic button but you can't ignore our form and it's ranging between patchy and rank. I think that has to be faced and pretending everything is fine is just ignoring the facts right now. But you have a point. We haven't been consistent for any length of time since coming into the Prem and it's been ups and downs mostly. Let's hope it's a blip.
We had a bad run last season also, where we were shocking, so it's not new, but Britton did nothing wrong I watched all the game and I thought he stabilised the midfield, cannot believe Dai can Blame Britton who was only on for 15 or 20 minutes.............
We have no one That's very true sir, but,I do expect a lot better performance(s) than we have witnessed v Watford and Southampton.Saturday apart when Siggy scored from the spot we have only had Gomis and Ayew scoring, that is a big concern for me. No panic button for me,yet, but we need to improve one hell of a lot. I'll take your hand off now for a point v Spurs.
Albeit a tad late, bringing Leon on smacked of Monk realising that he had made a mistake in taking off Jack Cork at HT......
